Positive feedback is vital in workplace. I'm intrinsically motivated typically. Communication is the relationship, work produced.

I work with a Jr graphic designer. I am helping him building his portfolio and I have given him a lot of feedback. For example, he brainstormed a car detailing company's logo. He presents me many drafts. I appreciate them and suggest some changes and he does them. After watching your video, I realized why he doesn't ask his supervisor about that logo but me, though I'm not sure whether he asks him or not. But in general, I can see how complimenting can boost others' morale and confidence. Thank you for this series. Love from Pakistan

Professors, This question is a bit off topic, but important in the work place today. How and when to communicate your retirement/departure from your organization? As a CEO (15 years with my organization) with plans to retire in fall of 2024, I'm working hard with the team on leadership development, and session planning with my Board, I want to develop a communication plan (for my work to inform and encourage my team, board, others). Our organization is a public/private partnership, so I have many stakeholders to consider. Any guidance?

It's a good question, Steve. I don't have any experience helping with that type of thing. By the way, congratulations. That's a huge milestone. Honestly, the first thing that comes to mind is to reach out to a fellow CEO (or former CEO), swear them to secrecy, and pick their brain. I'm sure there are some norms and best practices. That specific topic, however, isn't on my radar screen. Sorry I don't have specific advice.
