How to get your kayak onto the plane...
Getting your kayak onto the plane is one of the hardest and wort experiences you will ever have with your kayak. I typically take over 10 flights a year where I have to fly with my kayak, lot's of times with Airlines that fully disclose that they do not take kayaks.
Always try and find an airline that will officially carry your kayak but don't be put of if they day they wont. You can still get it onto the plane. You just have to stick to the rules :)

I've also got mine on by putting it in a huge SUP bag and saying its surf equipment
Took mine trough Birmingham airport last week, none of the paths where wide enough for the boat D: was an absolute arse pain. Flew emirates who say they take kayaks (but not anything bigger than play boat, I had creek boat) just put on some fancy clothes and pretended i was going to some mega event i was super excited about and they let me through no worries. Was shitting myself it wouldnt go on

For real, that was hilarious!
One of the things that helped me get a boat on a plane several times was calling the neatly wrapped boat a "surf ski". It helps to wrap the paddle very well, preferably in a bag that disguises its form. Also: don't just empty a whole can of deodorant, but shave as well! But simply being friendly also helps most of the time.

And then there's the return journey!
As a baggage handler who paddles. Please dont try and trick the weighing scales. If your successful in making it under the 20kg and it doesnt have a heavy sticker, the baggage handler downstairs goes to pick it up like a standard bag and could really damage their back. Which in my case would keep me off the water and out of a job.

I really want to bring a ripper back to Colombia. Air Europa have 250cm total dimension limit. :/. This is worrying me. Really hope they are flexible on those dimensions.

I’ve had to try and get a canoe polo boat on to a plane when flying to Germany, we said they were surf boards 😏😏🤪🤪🤪🤪
