This guy has a drinking problem (or one brewing) and hasn't admitted it to himself yet. His friends know him as a mess (as evidenced by the phone call), the memories he recalled are about getting drunk with his friends, he talked about booze during the date, he talked about booze with the bartender, he talked about booze in the pre-interview. I used to be the same way. He's on a slippery slope.

He was not just talking about booze in all parts of the conversation, he seemed drunk, the slow movements, the lazy speech, the constant frowning, moaning, sighing, not making eye-contact, the lack of attuning to the other person, to her. Horrible. That should be a regulation of the show, to not show up under the influence. He managed to make her feel sad in one short date. Alcohol will have you ruin more than you care to.

Or maybe this experience was a lesson for her to stop being so considerate of other people’s feelings and needs, and listen more to hers? Could have been a great opportunity to step out of the nice girl persona and set proper limits for herself. Being nice is not always the right answer. If a guy shows up drunk on a date, why put up with it? It’s a complete lack of respect, no matter what his story is.

Yes. Even a few days without a _partner_ is too long. Implying that it isn't leads me to think that you've never had a real _partner_ in your life. Not a boyfriend, not a F-buddy, not someone you live and eat and have $3x with, but a real _partner_ who _gets_ the whole you. It's okay though, most people go through life without finding their partner. Once you do however, it's really, really, _really_ tough to lose them and go back to normal.
