This is a great video, will definitely help me teach others to foil! 1 other hack I use to help get the board flipped is to hold the board to my feet with my right hand in a wakeboard start position (handle in left hand). When the rope gets tension I move my right hand from the board to the handle for a 2 handed pull. And then when I'm about to go on foil I drop my right hand to help shift weight forward.

Good tip - definitely a good one for folks with the water coordination to do it. Thank you for sharing. Don't hate me....but my daughter went to Duke. That said - being from the PNW - I'm perfectly ok likely both TarHeels and Blue Devils :-) thanks for reaching out.

I hope so too -- I'd add the other essential to pair with this video is the how to drive for foilers video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIxqrdCDmbC7paQ.html Between those two you should be able to hatch many a new foiler out into the world! Keep spreading the stoke! Best, Tim

Hello, thx for your great videos. I am managing flatwater starts on 7.7 Armstrong Dw board with the apf 1880. And I am looking now for a board which makes it easy to learn the dockstart and wakefoil. Do you think the WKT 122cm is fine? Not to narrow to place the backfoot correct when jumping from the dock? Many thx, other options could be also: Liquid Force Nebula 4.2x19x16l, North Scoop 3.11x18x16l, Slingshot WF-1 V4 4.2 x 21 x 22l Thx a million for advice. And is a low volume board (10 liters) more difficult to start without straps than a 30l board?

Good for you -- I'm just starting my journey on the DW board - any tips would be great. For dock start the WKT109 would be my choice. A bit shorter than the 122 - plenty of foot space unless you're size 12 or larger - then I'd go 122. If you're in the US - we have them in stock. halflife.live Best Tim

Thx Tim!! For wakefoiling is the WKT a good option as well or would the FG4.0 27l be more easy to water start than the 9l WKT? Regarding DW I am 87Kg and use the DW 7.7 121l Armstrong, APF 1880, 220 glide no shim, mast position 4 or 5. Key for flatwater start: 1) Paddle reach as forward as you can, paddlle until your front foot, not until your back foot 2) Place the front foot very foward on the deckpad, pointing more to the nose of the board 3) Squad and when you recover strecth your body unweighting specially your back foot and reaching forward (like on ollie on a skateboard), once you get speed you can unwait also your front foot but dont get up to early because it will stall. Much easier with some back wind. Enjoy 🙂

@@RamonSBruhn Hi Ramon -- WKT is the easiest for wake foil starts etc. FG4.0 is a decent option but has a 'cork' effect when you come out of the water behind the boat on a deep water start. The WKT109 with less material would be the way to go. Thank you for the tips on DW!

Hey Patrick - you can either learn on the first wave (standard wake surf rope) or the second wave (standard wake board rope) - either works. We do most of our lessons on the first wave so that we can see the students foot position. This is the best tow rope we've found on the market -- www.freedomfoilboards.com/ffb-tow-rope/5637725265.p Best, Tim
