    What amazes me is that Kirby can shine shoes without getting any polish on his hands, lol. Next thing you know, he'll be shaving while wearing a tie--oh wait, he's been there done that too. Thanks as always, Kirby.

    The other reason to straight-lace your shoes is if you are in an emergency and a paramedic needs to get your shoes off quickly, it is much easier to cut through a straight-lace compared to criss-crossed laces.

    Kirby, does it make a big difference whether using the Black or Neutral Saphir Mirror Gloss wax? I imagine if I had to choose between the two and just have one, neutral would be more versatile for black and brown shoes? Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

    This is pretty much how the Army taught me to shine my Class A shoes and combat boots. Back then the basic combat boot was an all-black leather boot, not like the "no-shine" brown boots they wear today. I had a custom pair of Danner Tanker boots. Tanker boots don't have laces but rather straps that wrap around the ankle and upper part of the boot so that when a hot aft cap falls from the main gun after firing a 120mm tank round it would hit nothing but leather whereas laces would melt and fall apart. I polished those boots to a high shine every day after final formation while watching the local news and drinking a beer. Being combat arms, we didn't wear Class As often except on special events like funereal details, Class A formation inspections, promotion boards, or unit dinners once a year so the shoes stayed shined pretty well all the time.

    Another superb video from the "man in a suit" I'm still on a learning curve with mirror shines and even though I'm getting a decent shine with mirror gloss it's taking ages to fill the pores in the leather kirby, is it because I'm working on new shoes that it's taking me so long? Thanks.

    Shout out to me Brixton Boyz - East Side. This here shine looks amazing. Jaws will drop. My question to you, Mr. Kirby Allison, is since human skin is like leather -- or would be like leather if you was to cut it off and hang it up and dry it -- could I use this mirror shine on me knob? Me is thinking Cherry be jazzed to see her reflection when she is down there taking care of business. Then that mirror shine should give one wild ride when we be bouncing around.

    Hi Kirby, Do you find that your mirror gloss finish on the cap toe is quite fragile and diminishes after 1-2 wears of walking/using the shoes outdoors? I myself can easily get the mirror shine but find it quite hard to preserve in London weather, even over the course of a single week. Would you have any tips for making a mirror shine more durable to the elements?

    I love watching these, and then as a soldier, I do the total opposite as in we polish the whole shoe, I soak the rag and wring it out, I use a leather balm and used to be kiwi but now saphir mirror shine yet I still end up with high mirrored shoe.

    Do you recommend metal toe plates in general?

  • @DavakiDnD

    @DavakiDnD

    4 жыл бұрын

    Depends on how you walk, but for most people it's worth doing since it costs much less than a resole and will make you actually wear out the leather sole. Without toe plates you end up having to replace the sole when you get near the welt on the tip of your shoe just to protect your shoes, which can be premature. Basically, if your toes wear out before the middle of your sole gets really soft, get plates. This is 90% of people.

    The Saphir Mink oil or Dubbin conditions are better than the Renovateur. The high gloss requires the use of water/alcohol fluid to make it soft and pliable while the de Luxe does not need additional fluids.

    More and more creams, polishes, various bottles appear just for regular cleaning your fucking shoes.... I remember we always had one brush and one container with one shoe cream. Apply cream, wait a bit, then shine with the brush and you are done.
