    When I got to basic in the Navy we had a large meeting they asked us how many of you were promised a certain job by your recruiter ? Several guys raised their hands. They told us forget about that B.S. Next we each were interviewed and told to choose 5 jobs that we would like. I didn't get any of the 5 I chose.

    NEVER settle for an MOS you don't want. The Marine Corps has a retention problem because of this. I understand there's MOS's to fill and that's what LAT moves are for but half the time you're out in the field and your command doesn't allow you the time for the LAT move process until it's too late and you're stuck either reenlisting because it's easier or getting out because it's too late to start the LAT move process.

    Yooo bro personally first: I want to thank you for servicing our country Second: thank you for the previous video honestly I need one more semester to graduate college with my bachelors in criminal justice. My dream job has always been the Texas state trooper, but I Ive been wanting to join the military since I’ve was 10 and would hear badass stories about them and how much butt they kick and the history of the marines it’s all so captivating and I can read it for days as a kid all I ever wanted to do is join the marine corps, but I had made a promise to my parents I’d finish school I’m 24. I feel like joining the military now would be the best experience of my life, and would help me develop experience and discipline and will. With the previous video you cleared all of my worries in what I needed to know. Third: this video helped so much more and I was gonna message you but this video answered all of my questions Thank you so much bro🙏🏽 P.s. I hope I’m not over sharing just feeling grateful you took the time out of your busy day to help those who want to join but are nervous or don’t now what direction to take when joining and not walking in blind

    Yes, you have a maximum of 365 days in the delayed entry program. However, the Marines at MEPS do not control what job you get. That is up to the boss or (SNCOIC) of your office. From the date you swear in your date starts the 365 days. Worst case, ask for a shipping bonus of 1000. Also understand you might not qualify due to many reasons. Recent recruiter here.

    Yeah. A ton of people just pick a job to ship out sooner. For a while I did need to because I didn't have a place to stay but, once I did settle back at home, I still chose to ship out sooner. I wanted Intelligence but I didn't qualify because I had a GED so I chose Ground Ordinance Maintenance. It's still a good career but I should've waited and got enough college credits to qualify for special clearance again.

    5 year contract, 1 year of mos training, work 9-12 hours each week with quite high cutting score and even then you won't promote past e-4 unless you have certs because they will non-rec your ass if you don't have one. Almost every mechanic I know hates their life, work is fine but the schedule sucks ass. Not the best career MOS unless you really enjoy it or you're planning to use it and transfer the skills to civilian side. Not hating it, I'm just telling you what to kinda expect if you haven't already know about it. I'm not AVI but my roommate was one.

    Long story short, you can't really choose your job because a civilan randomly assigns people to their mos, however if you have college credentials, or certificates you can possibly get it switch but that's on your chain of command, the next option is being in for 2 years and you can lat move. But that's up to the monitor to allow you to do so. So your best option is in the beginning when you sign your contract, either score high enough to get a guaranteed contract, or just choose a field where you like most of the jobs

    Please take your time and thought with this comment bro. I’m 23 and I’ve gone through 2 recruiters cause I’m on felony probation which will be exsponged in three weeks. So I’ll need to get a waiver but the last recruiter I met said “we won’t tell you no, we’ll let the marines tell you no” saying he’ll work with me and get through the paperwork. Yet at the last minute he all of sudden said “sorry man I can’t work with you, something about 2020 and we can’t work with felons” which is a lie, but I believe this guy doesn’t believe I’m serious. Do you think I should walk back up to the same recruiting office and talk with both recruiters and give them a small speech of how dedicated I am to joining the marines ? (After I exsponge my record) Or just move on to the next recruiter?

  • @simeon_kurosky

    omar R you can try both. There’s nothing wrong with trying out another recruiter! Marine recruiters usually are amazing with working with stuff on your record and trying to help you out. See what the next recruiter can do for you! Wish you luck brother

  • @danielm5324

    @danielm5324

    your record will not be fully expunged: the military will be able to find it. So get it out of your head that getting it expunged makes it like it never happened. You are Disqualified with a felony. Now they can request a waiver if the rest of the picture is good enough. However, with a felony, it will be much, much more difficult to get you in, and he does not have to work any applicant he does not feel like working. Someone with a felony (depending on what it is and if you have other issues) can be a real nightmare to get the waiver. Takes a lot of time and manpower hours. It would not surprise me a bit with how much COVID changed things that they were not going to approve Misconduct Offense waivers.
