I am brand new to this mycelium world. However, I've listened and watched dozens of vids for the various vehicles I own since I do my own work on them. This young man is by far the best example of how a KZread should be made. At 66, I'm taking this up as a hobby because in a couple more years, I'll be too crippled to stand for extended periods for outdoor activities. Anyway, I've learned a ton, and have read more in the past two weeks than in the past twenty years, since I became disabled. Thank you sir! Keep up the great work!!!

Really good intro video to the subject, thanks.
Your video are wonderful, thanks for doing them. Quick question, of all the growing ways that you've shown on your channel, what would you say is the most efficient and least work intensive? I run an urban farm and we'd like to add mushrooms to our list. Do you have any recommendations for what would produce the most and require the least attention? Thank you :)
I cant wait to grow mushrooms to make a risotto !!! ;)
Question: You didn't address how many "harvests" or how long a colony will produce mushrooms for you to use. How often do you re-seed your mushroom plot/garden? I've heard the box kits only yield one or two harvests.
Super nice video, very good explanation 👏🏼

Thanks for the great video!

Thx this was really helpful
I love it I’ll try to do that . Thank you..!
Obsessed with that cow painting!
O i see how you can make the cultures/spores from scratch its what i gathered from other videos on mushrooms this finally confirmed it for me. You pasteurize a grain such as millet , wheat, rye ,...etc then add cuttings of a mushroom to a container wet it and provide a little oxygen but not alot until the culture gets established and takes over then it cannt by harmed with. Once you got enough of it in jars you can add it to your hay , straw, peat moss, soil mixes whatever your growing material is that you choose. And keep it moist. Nice i think i got the easy to hard... though it would be nice to have the vent and pressure canner. One has many sterilization methods for containers , grains , hay ,..etc so it really requires only the mushrooms to get a culture from ...so freaking cool have to try it to see i will it all works out someday .Great video.
helpful thank you

a cool thing i did with the fruiting block kit was i actually just took it out of the entire bag and put it in a monotub and it was able to grow all around the block and not just the slits you cut in the front, you get more mushrooms that way.

Thanks for making this easy to understand, as I am new to growing! I love the flavor of mushrooms, especially with onion and garlic mixed with them!
here's several suggestions worth trying choose the best variety - there are lots available. grow them in the best environment - some such as oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and can be put outside (I learned these and the reasons they work on gregs mushroom grower site )
Cool mushroom wall man that’s pretty cool
Uncle Ben's ready rice is great for making grain spawn.
Okay, I've watched the 5 gallon bucket method, I actually bought some bales of straw. I didn't think of covering them, thank you! Can I grow Maitake and Portobello next to each other so that I can use the same cover sheet ♥

Power Pressure Cooker XL or Insta Pots work great for easy sterilization ...
Would like to see progress on that kit later. Does the fruiting block not leak water into the box when you put it back, which would make it grow mold?
Thank you!
I am trying to grow some oyster mushrooms on some used tea leaves. I took the bits of the mushrooms that got covered in that white fluff while they were in my fridge and added them to a small tub of quite moist tea leaves. I'm keeping the thing in my fridge, since I thought that if the original mushrooms got their mycelium growing in those conditions, they must be appropriate, Nothing much is happening, though, but the white fluff is still there. Although, it may be mold. The tub is sealed, though. I will take of the lid and put it into a bigger bag.
I got into Uncle Ben's tek and it works great for me. Ready to go brown rice bags are cheap and sterilised so you dont need a pressure cooker.
Keep it up sir

Those are great mushrooms to promote man Health specially with so much plastic been exposed even in mother’s womb. ( see videos of Dr. Shanna Swan in you tube). Yes. Cordyceps may help with that.
I had some leftover soy husks from making tofu and I didn't know what to do with them, well I sterilized them in a jar and put some oyster mushroom tissue in there. I hope I get mushrooms out of it, never done this before!

Hey there, Biologist here, who already has a small sterile lab setup for iv propagation at home. Perlite holds air. You want to use vermiculite to hold water. Have you considered wet newspaper or sponges? Those would be cheaper options to slow release water
There are a few things to try choose the top type - there are lots available. grow them in the best conditions - some eg oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and may be put outside (I learned these and why they work from gregs mushroom grower website )

So gormet, very wow.
this is a amazing video Tony. Thanks a lot. I have a little question. I dont have intention to grow mushroom in a commercial scale. but I really wanna grow some Abalone for food. so i'm thinking to use pasteurized hardwood dust as my substrate. But i have to make my own spawn because the amount of abalone culture i can get it around 10g. can i use pasteurized grain to make my spawn. I don't have a pressure cooker
