How To Get Over A Nasal Voice!

I would like to give a shout out to Fran Drescher for her amazing performance in “The Nanny”. Part of what is so memorable about her character is her incredibly nasal voice! WOW! It was fun to watch, but if you find that people are commenting on your nasal voice, it might not be so fun. Here are some simple steps to fixing it.

    Another way of finding out if you're using a nasal voice is by pinching the nose, it shouldn't cause a large difference if most of the air is being sent through the mouth (only for 'm' and 'n' sounds which do require nasal airflow)

    How about practicing in situations where you’re with people you don’t know: the supermarket, coffee shop, on vacation. Act as if that were your voice, even if you keep it up for two minutes. In order to make changes, it takes action. Practicing with people who don’t know you could be just the action to get you started! Let me know how it goes.

    Im both nasally and I also stutter alot. That's why everytime I talk with my friends they always can't understand what I've just said because of nasally plus stuttering. My teacher once noticed it when I talked and she says "oh that's very much of a nasal speaking (kind of like that. Cant explain it much in english). Should have seen this earlier Having a nasal voice is really troublesome In my adolescence period,I would avoid talking as much as possible,which really affected my life in a way that Im not very approachable or boring to be around And its very tiring to repeat what you say;like when you have a conversation and your voice is not clear and you have to repeat a few times And I had a incident in a city bus when I was 21 or something,I met my close friend in a bus and talked to him and two girls around my age near us were laughing at my voice as we speak,quite a depressing experience

  • @pmz

    @pmz

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi @Elana Horowitz - yes, a tongue-tie can affect your speech as well as your voice. Since a tongue-tie doesn’t affect the back of your tongue, try lowering the back of your tongue and raising your soft palate as you release on an “oh” and “ah” and see how much you can get away from that nasality.
