I had a buddy in the National Guard that won the National Guard Best Soldier Competition and then went on to come in second in the big Army Best Soldier Competition and he was given the opportunity to go to Ranger school as a, kind of, reward for doing so well. He's got his tab now.

I meet my sponsor a few weeks ago and I told him I wanted to be a ranger he laughed at me for wanting to go rangers and said that my motivation will go away after 6 months of being in the unit so I said back to him “well I guess I just have to join within 6 months of being in the unit” and he laughed and said no one has been offered rangers good luck so I get introduced to my command and ask if there’s any ranger slots and they said they have a few slots open could get me in and this was the first day arriving to my unit 😂. Fast forward 2 weeks later I leave for pre rasp and once I finish I will have enough promotional points to be the same rank as my sponsor so whose laughing now.

Damn good advice!!! No truer words spoken when it comes to Ranger school or soldiering. The same held true in my time (1999 - 2007) as it does now.

Thanks for making this video. I actually just watched the video I think you're referring to, and it was discouraging to hear what the first guy said. You cleared up a lot of my concerns with accurate information.

Extremely thankful I came across this video. Your channel has helped me rebuild/regain the inspiration and motivation I once had. Attended OCS at Ft. Benning back in February-June of 2022 where I gained my commission and branched Transportation as an 88A. I’m in the guard, so I’m in that weird phase where I’m drilling at my unit, but patiently waiting for my BOLC date. Not being job qualified has really limited my options in regards to going on orders, school, etc. Also to mention my state lacks the funding for any additional schooling which is discouraging and made an negative impact on the career I hoped to have. I will NEVER give up though, and I’m remaining persistent on irritating my training NCO until a slot magically appears 😂. Thank you!!

Tenacity is sooooo important for many worthy goals!

Wise words and great info. Surround yourself with people who want to be the best and high standard goals and you to will rise.

Thank you for this video. I am in AMEDD 71A AOC. I joined while finishing my PhD and will be coming in as a captain. I have 5 months until DCC and BOLC and am working on my PT and studying soldiering skills like land nav, etc. Being a non-combat MOS I don't know what my chances are of being able to get into Ranger school, but I plan on putting my best foot forward and trying. Thanks for all the videos.

Can you do a video on foreign students at ranger school?

I enlisted for Ranger school in 1979. Unfortunately, I didn’t do well in 13e and switched to 11b which surprise to me voided my contract

Hey man, I’ve been following your videos since last spring and I really enjoy your content. I’m currently a 31B MP (yeah ik it sucks lol) but I have ambitions to someday get Ranger tabbed later down in my career. From your experience, have you ever ran into a Ranger tabbed MP before, or had someone in your Ranger class be an MP? I know the opportunity is ultra rare, but it’s definitely not impossible for my MOS. I just want to know if some POG ass job like mine has been through the school before that you have seen in the past? Primarily because the school is built behind and solely for infantryman.. commonly.

Absolutely. EVERY MOS can go and be successful. It’s more about you as an individual then where you come from. It’s about your performance at school that decides if you leave with a Tab or not. You can do it.

FM I have the ultimate POG job, I’m a 42A. I’m working on getting ready for Ranger school right now, and I know of a few others out there that have been. If an HR specialist can get slotted, anyone can!

I am going to joining for my first time and want to be ranger ever since I was a kid. wife dad was ranger and retired srgt major. working on my physical workouts I'm studying like hell to get a great asvab score. Pretty sure I knew a guy that got Ranger School on his initial entry contract. This was somewhere around 2003-2005

AF Pog here... Trying to get in.. question for you . Has the quantity of DoD members going through ranger school gone down since COVID? As i understand it.. i have to go through af RAC just to get considered to go to ranger school.. i met a person who washed out of RAC right before COVID... I haven't seen any calls for it since COVID.. he said he's in contact with USAF RAC instructors and they aren't holding RACs anytime soon .. maybe i misunderstood him though

Are there a limited amounts of times you can be recycled or can you stay there until get your tab (granted you don’t quit)?

I work in ARTB (RI at 6th), ARTB apparently is no longer accepting walk-ons…just thought I would throw that out there

Can you walk on to RTAC the same way you'd walk on to Ranger School?

Are there ways to go to Ranger School out of basic and AIT? My goal is to be in the Regiment but I'm still in highschool so I have a lot of preparation that needs to be done. My recruiter also mention tests I can take to graduate basic as an E2 or E3 but I'm not entirely sure if that's just a tactic the recruiter uses lol

Tiny females have tabs and EIB’s. Hell, there’s even a female with a long tab these days. Actually, that’ll make 2 females with long tabs since there was one in the 1980’s.

Sir, I’m hopefully going to SURT next month. Do you know if they allow the RFI OCPs for the packing list? I’ve been trying to get into so I don’t buy more uniforms but haven’t been able to get an answer 😅

Back in the day (around 2000) they used to post online which students were at which phases and what unit they were from. Crazy, right? I used to check it to see how my friends were doing. There were often a few SEALs in the classes. One of the PLs in my infantry battalion was a prior service enlisted SEAL. He said BUD/S was harder, but Ranger School sucked more.

Lies lies lies there are Always Slots for Ranger School.... It all over the walls in the Army... But... U have to be Good at PT and a little Smart and Dedicated... Hardest part is showing up but it's not that bad. I'm 5'6"
