In economics, the supply-demand relationship has tipped so far in favour of the sellers that they can demand increasingly absurd contortions from would-be purchasers in the form of "personal statements." For the next year or two full-contact education has been replaced by on-line teaching and solitary study in spartan halls of residence, but at a much greater cost than that charged by the Open University, which holds no students hostage and actually knows how to deliver distance learning. Yet they all study from the same textbooks! Educational consumers may decide that they would rather do their on-line and solitary study in the comfort of their own homes (as they did for A Levels) and the universities may find they are not dispensing their favours to grateful supplicants, but more in the position of the other public utilities like npower and British Gas.

Please help me, i need to change my programme because i dont have further math so i want to change it with a slightly different programme, i sent them a query through the “ i need help” option, will this work ?

on there website it says "Further Mathematics at A-level is also desirable, and is acceptable for entry in combination with Mathematics and one other A-level". did they change their policy because you said they dont like it as a third?

Great vid! I'm doing Math, FM, Physics, Eco atm but rly wanna drop Phys I read on the website that Math, FM and an essay based subject (they said such as eng, eco or politics) is acceptable. Should I drop Phys? It's rly hard and I hate it

yea i get that - my advice is that you can drop it but another option is to make sure you get the grades for your offer because that's all that matters at the end of the day - if you got an offer you would need to get e.g A*aa with a pass in the 4th a level, so you could get a D+ for phys and still get in - up to you :)

do you mean A levels? yea business and economics are seen as similar so it isn't recommended to choose business, I personally did maths / econ / psychology / further maths - economics is a very mathematical course so maths is important, if she can do further maths that will also be good

i got a C in FM XD still got in

is not getting the grade 9 in maths to do further maths at my sixth form ( i got an 8 which i did in year 10) a good enough excuse for not having done a level furthermaths . As they don’t let u in without the 9

Not entirely sure ( that's quite harsh tbh ) but there are people here who didnt do FM so dont let that stop you ! You could do a few stats further maths chapters and talk about it in your PS to show you are proactive even not doing FM ( just a suggestion not saying you need to ) I would say still go for it and they wont ask you why tbh so I dont think you will need to explain

i do maths physics and economics right now in yr 13 and want to drop physics for media would that effect my chances

they care about maths mainly , i wouldnt say so as long as you can be creative and link it to econ in your PS

Hi Presence, I was wondering what grades LSE offered you? Did they ask for a grade in further maths? I am studying FM, maths, economics, Spanish.. would they offer me A* AA or 4 grades?

hey! I’m an AS CIE student , wishing to apply for Bsc accounting and finance, my subjects are Business, Pure math, English,Economics and Psychology. For my IGCSE I got an A* for math and english, 3 A’s at Economics, Business and Art &Design, and I have 3 B’s, Hindi, Physics and Chemistry, i feel my igcses are concerning as I feel it creates a bad impact on my chances to get in LSE, if I meet all the requirements for my A levels and if i write a strong persanal statement, do you think it’s still worth applying ? Also are your AS grades considered that importrant? (Please be brutally honest for all the questions).

There are many options, Economics is very mathematical but so are STEM subjects , finance , acturial science etc

yes of course! You don't need to have a business at all

@@kenza1334 i cant give you an answer as it depends - you want to write something that flows as well so don't include stuff just for the sake of it, but if you think it helps you show your interest in the course then you can always include it, check out my PS video, it might help give you an idea

Hi, I’m a A level student taking maths, economics, physics and chemistry at A levels. I’ve got predicted A stars for all these 4 subjects. My school does not offer further maths and thus I haven’t been able to take it.. do u think there is a chance I can get into lse without further maths. Would you suggest any Olympiads I could do to demonstrate my potential in maths as I do not have further maths?

My school does not offer further maths. I have to do it myself with the help of the normal maths teacher so I'm probably not gonna be taking it if that's a valid reason?

Honest answer : yes. But I would say it goes for most universities :) All about adapting to the next level

as long as you have maths and FM you can take anything you want ( most have econ but not all ) the other they don't matter much

and sociology does relate to economics in some ways so if you enjoy it then go for it

My GCSEs got cancelled and at this rate, I'll get a few 7s and mostly 6s. Do I still have a chance of getting into LSE? I can still increase my grades tho, as we have a few more exams coming up.
