@@treverolson4154 Unless your poking someone's eyes, or outright slapping them in the face, there is no penalty. The ref was gesturing to the coach he was pulling down headgear, which he wasn't.

The ref needs to be reported.

That was some of the worst officiating I've seen. I hope someone presented this to that officials' group or supervisor for review. Nothing I saw was illegal and certain nothing warranting a DQ.

My brother used to be an assistant wrestling coach at Sickles High School in Tampa from summer 2001-2005 and when he saw this he didn't see any wrongdoing by either wrestler. The ref must have seeing things that never happened.

Positioning poor, attitude poor, disinterested demeanor, rules knowledge poor. I hope this wasn't a post season tourney.

@@Michael89240 This is maybe the dumbest thing I've ever seen written in relation to Wrestling. You ABSOLUTELY can "grab people's head." It's about 90 pct of hand fighting. No, they POORLY called hands to the face...when it was to the forehead...which is legal. You can't get down around the eyes, he wasn't(and the other kid was also doing it and he was doing it legally). And you also give at LEAST a couple warnings. This ref had some issue with that team or...IDK. Sloppy.

As a former wrestler who's competed at the collegiate level. This is one of the worst displays of officiating I've ever seen. The ref must be on drugs.

Referees like this need to be removed. That was an absolutely despicable example of refereeing.

I've been involved with wrestling since ... I've wrestled from Elementary school then 6 years of HS... % years of college.... Officiated, Coached etc... That is the ALL TIME WORST CALL I'VE EVER SEEN. The Ref wanted to Beat his chest and show that he was in charge when in fact his position is to try to help the kids. IF the kid was continually doing something wrong or illegal after being warned he should stop the match and tell the kids and COACHES. Then if it happened again take action... The kid obviously didn't know what was going on.

Ahh yes the classic “I need attention everyone look at me ref”

Ref was wrong. Wayyyyyy too quick to call and eventually eliminate the purple wrestler. Plus, the final exchange appeared legit. Tough break for that kid. Ref needs some correction.

35 years doing college and high school. I still am trying to see what was the violation. Saw nothing.

I wrestled for a lot of years I would've never won a match with this clown officiating.

I think more to the point... the official doesn't recognize that it is a Technical Violation, and not an Illegal hold. That error leads one to wonder if he's therfore calling the 'Hands to the Face' (or 'raking the face) correctly... Seems like this is a bit of a stretch. But... He called it.

So what is the hand,signal for technical violation as far as I know that is the hand,signal for all illegal activity in the match now for team point violations different,story but that is the only hand,signal in the match itself I have ever seen either way unwarranted in both cases shitty call

Nothing out of the ordinary here to Warrant a disqualification. I was about to hit blue with a caution for being passive.

I rewatched the video and did see one instance of hands to the face, but my question is this: why did the ref not assess the penalty the moment it happened? Why did he wait until the end of the period to assess the penalty and DQ the wrestler in the blue singlet? From my point of view, he was being the most aggressive wrestler, attempting several single leg takedowns, and his opponent did mostly countering the attacks. I believe this was a poor job of officiating.

What!? I’m so confused was it for stalling I may just be a first year in wrestling but I can see nothing wrong with that match

As an objective observer the one kid kept trying to pull his headgear down into his opponents eyes twice. The kid was warned in other matches for doing the same thing

The match was ended because it was boring. This is why I liked watching the heavy weight matches. It was like being on a river boat in Africa watching the hippos slam their jiggly masses against each other to establish dominance.

Hmm maybe the ref use to be the head coach. Happened to me once. Ref was a teacher from our school who use to be the head coach. I don’t recall exact details, but the next day at school I recall having words with the teacher/ref. He said something about our coach. Again I don’t recall what was said but it was clear he had an issue with the new coach. After we had words I was sent to the office. The teacher never called our matches again.
