    Honestly I put blame on small mats and people with kids sitting 1 foot off the mat. The is full contact grappling. The organizers need to think a LOT more. the guys were also being overly aggressive BUT that is going to happen sometimes.

    @@philodox7599 Who gives a shit? In competition it's no longer about using the best technique. It's about winning. The time for using the best technique is in the gym but when the fight is on, it's on. Plus, in each of those final takedowns, there were clear points to be scored so they were legit. That midget making threats on the sideline needs to get kicked in the head.

    the mat size is decent, just should've had barriers and the audience shouldnt have been so close. the only problem is the guy in orange intentionally trying to bring the other guy outside he mats constantly during his takedowns.

    Just so everyone know me and the other competitor are cool now and we have a "superfight" rematch coming up July 15th. I did not expect this video to blow up like this. Just to clear some things up. I'm the one with tattoos im a white belt been training a year and he's a blue belt. We did get a little rowdy but it's grappling not dancing. I have alot to learn on this journey. Thanks everyone for the comments. Also don't have kids sit close at a competition. The organization owner reached out and next competition there will be boundaries and bigger mat space.

    While the aggression and intensity was high, I saw no malicious intent and no reason for a double dq. I think you two were fine, but Would recommend a rematch in a cage 😅 If you want to split hairs, the one who gets pushed out is warned, and then penalized for “fleeing” the mat.

    @@davontehinojosa2277 I had competed in one personally and that also happens in class. UFC gives you a fence. Tournaments are usually held in large conference rooms like that and there is no fence, only mats. That happened probably 50 times at the one I was at b/c there is no fence. BJJ clases are usually held in a rented office space in a shopping center and you have walls that somewhat contain the grapplers. I guess I competed in a tournament where people had common sense and didnt let their kids sit right in front of the mat. But yes, that actually happens every few minutes in these tournaments. Ive never seen chairs put right up at the matt like that and even worse people letting their kids sit right there and then getting mad at the grapplers. You're processing everything ass backwards. Competitors should've known what they signed up for. Not every gym is massive or can afford to run a 3 day tournament by giving more mat space to each match. Also, there's literally so many other takedown options outside of blast double legs that would be perfectly fine here... Literally any judo sweeps/throws, single leg pulls, snap downs, a combination of any of those... ridiculous amount of options outside of playing tackle football the way they were.

Look, I get it that it sucks that matspace is an issue in competition, but it really is stupid the amount of times they went out of bounds. However, I still blame the referee. He never asserted himself and relied on people outside of his mat to maintain order. He should never be allowed to ref again.

    The smaller mat area was very unfortunate but as someone who used to compete, I understand the disqualification. They were both feeling some type of way and it was quickly turning into a street fight lol. My coach would tell me to go all out and hold nothing back during tournaments (which I did), so trust me I get it... But theres also a limit I can tell you with 100% certainty - if your opponent is sprinting at full speed trying to drive you off the mat, then they have passed that limit and it just got personal 😂 In case you didnt know, slamming is considered an illegal move in BJJ. Take downs are fine but if you are clearly trying to slam your opponent into the ground using brute strength thats a dq

  • @zaarongaming8174

    @zaarongaming8174

    5 ай бұрын

    Trying to slam your opponent into the ground using brute strength isn't a DQ in and of itself; if you hit a throw/double leg/high crotch/whatever, it's perfectly legal to smash them into the ground with all your strength. BUT, it's illegal if you're using it either to try and escape a submission hold like a triangle/armbar, if they're in guard, or if they have your back. If you're deliberately slamming them on their neck/head, that's considered a slam as well. Also, if you're competing in ADCC, defenestrate my previous statement because it's pretty much the exact opposite; in that ruleset you can slam, but only in order to escape a submission.

    intentionally pushing someone off the mat and into the audience seems to be the issue. There's nothing wrong with going hard. It looked like there was clear intent to injure. Good call on the ref's part to DQ both, even though it was largely only the person in orange's fault

  • @wgjung1

    There's a reasonable attitude about 'competing hard', like having in mind the limited space, the proximity of the spectators. Shoving a guy towards a woman with an infant child is not 'competing hard' it's just being a psycho who doesn't have the ability to control his impulses. We all seen profesional competitions where the fighters restrain themselves in situation like that and nobody doubts they really compete hard.
