I'm 43 years old with very fine hair that cannot hold a curl to save its life. I'm lucky if they last a day and that usually requires copious amounts of hairspray. My first time trying out all of these tips and I am on day 3 and my curls are still there. And I have a disability that requires laying down a lot, with my head on a pillow, which is usually where my curls flatten out. I'm a bit annoyed that I just found these tricks! Total gamechanger! And the fact that I was able to get curls like these to last with so little product is insane. I'm shook.

Girl with natural curl here. I am loving these videos and have committed to the trilogy. I do prefer to style my hair with a diffuser to bring out my ringlets, though, but Chris' shampooing methods and recommended products still have validity. I don’t know if the Blowout Professor would ever expand his research to the curly community, but if he did, it would be invaluable! There is so much hype and endless products out there right now for curl types and he would be a breath of fresh air! Thanks for all you and your team do, Chris!

I'm 100% with you here. I'd love to see a video from him for us naturally curly girls. :) As for shampooing, I totally understand the importance of a clean slate for our hair. I do not yet use a professional shampoo but I do like to go in with a regular shampoo with sulface, and then I do the second wash with a more gentle shampoo.

In the morning, lightly brush it and put a little bit of hair oil in the ends. You are changing my life one tutorial at a time. I turn 40 this year, I have lost over half my body weight (130 kgs down to 57 kgs) and with my changed face shape and hair loss from health issues, I decided to try to make an effort with my hair. I got 8 inches cut off the bottom to shoulder length and had some long layers out in and have been taking your advice about products and how to do everything I have never been able to do to my own hair. When I look in the mirror, I still see the person who weighed 130 kgs, but I'm absolutely loving my hair! You have made it so easy. I really appreciate you and your advice 😍

Olaplex #7 bonding oil, Redken Big Blowout, Kenra Thermal Styling/Heat Protectant, & Purology Leave In Conditionsr….. the only things I’ve not purchased yet are the professional shampoo & conditioner (I’m on a budget lol). I also purchased a wet brush & sleepy-tie scrunchie and ohhhh my gosh, holy wow the difference. After just one day of using these products my hair feels amazing and it hasn’t held curl like this in… ever? Long story short, anyone who is questioning if these products really make a difference…. They do!! I’m beyond impressed and also really appreciate that you have no issue saying when something isn’t worth the $$. Vanessa B: Very good advice. I have a further tip that if you pin those newly rolled strands just onto pins, they’re easier to sleep on; and the longer they stay pinned and uncombed out yet the next day, the longer they will remain in the loose corkscrew shape. The hair has a ‘memory’.

What are your suggestions for styling naturally wavy hair? I'm one of those gals that just learned that my hair is actually wavy, almost curly with some coaxing. (always thought it was straight because it was so thick , the weight pulled it straight! But since I weaned my last kid , all that pregnancy hair finally shed, and my wavy curly hair was revealed, lol! So I am constantly on the search for hair care routines. I wash 2-3 times a week, i use a leave in, and typically air dry, sometimes diffuse. I refresh with leave in on non wash days.

Sometimes I get curls that last for two days. One way that works really well for me is to put curlers in my hair when it is still wet from a shower. Especially the curlers with the sponges. I love those things. You can sleep overnight in those a lot easier than the hard plastic ones. Of course my hair has a little natural curl to it too. But not that much. Sometimes if I leave my hair in the curling iron a little bit longer than usual the curls will stay longer with the help of a decent hairspray too. Trouble is when you shampoo the curls will fall out again. But it is not that hard to curl your hair again anyway, or put in curlers for the night.

Question, when I twist my curl when I curl I notice it actually doesn't last because the heat can't get into the inside. I've also noticed more damage on the outside layer because they get more heat and the inside doesn't get any. My favorite way has been to do the recently popular "duck and slide" method with a clamp!

The volume is insane for me, we are talking 80s big hair at first. Finish with some Olaplex oil on the ends. All Chris's recommendations. I have the Morrocan oil mask he recommends, the olaplex #6, I also have 2 other olaplex products, I forget the numbers, but one you can add to the blowdry cream and one is a repair mask which I use several days after getting my hair colored. Although I have a way to go, I feel like I am unlocking my hair's potential. A decades long reoccurring dream of mine is to have healthy, bouncy, long flowing hair. I always thought that was just the stuff of dreams! LOL The analogies you use help to open a whole new level of understanding. As a retired public school teacher, I know the importance! I may not have found this video yet, but what do you recommend you do with your hair during sleep to help keep your curl?

Put your hair in a pineapple style and sleep in a satin cap. That's what we curly girls do. The difference is remarkable. My hair needs little touch ups but it's fine for 6 days and I wash it on the 7th, so it doesn't matter 😁

I think I have never had a real understanding of my 50 + bottles of hair product that surround me and also I have been using too much of it. Hopefully it won’t be frizzy tomorrow. Is using an iron key to getting through between washes? Also I have ordered product from your list through your salon Can’t wait for them to arrive!

One advice that helped me tremendously is: after curling a section of hair clip it so that it cools in that shape and then let it loose. Also sebastain reshaper hairspray really keeps the hair in place for 10+ hours and it looks super silky. Hope that helps

Hey Chris. I'm completely blown away buy your tips and how effective they are. Just two washes and my hair have completely transformed even though I'm not using your recommended products yet, still, by following your easy tips, using right amount of right product at the right time has done wonders for me. Always had dry and frizzy hair which became worst after bleaching and dyeing. Now my hair look perfect even when the humidity in my region is as high as 90%🤣. I had lost all hope in my hair, kept it short and tied all the time. I hope more people discover you. Your content is Beyond amazing, I wish I found you earlier it could have saved me years of making terrible hair mistakes. One question, what can be done to reduce hairfall, and can you please make a video on hairfall (not breakage). That'd be a great help. Thankyou

That's amazing! You made my day Sameen. Hairfall is really complicated and can be caused by 20 or so different things. They're usually related to physical health, emotional health, diet or hormones. It's almost never a product or styling issue so I'm not very useful on the topic. Dermatologists are much better versed on this issue than me. If I had any good answers I promise I would immediately share them!

Hi Chris, I have short curly hair (just past my ears) and I don't use a curling iron to style my natural curls. You've mentioned that air-drying leads to more frequent washes because hair gets dirtier, faster. Would you still recommend blow-drying even for short curly hair?

I had no idea how badly I was treating it, thinking I was giving it TLC with too much product, wrong products, washing too often and incorrectly, over-styling, etc. I am going to keep track of how much growth I am now keeping after using these ‘secrets’ you’ve shared and I’ll report back in a month. Stay tuned! And thank you!!

I’ve been using a microfiber towel to wrap hair while in the shower but not washing, but recently got the terry cloth lined shower caps because of your videos! Didn’t know they made those. My question is, how long should you wear it if you stay in the bathroom getting ready after the shower….I try to keep it on as long as possible because it’s still humid in the bathroom even after I’m done in the shower. Hopefully this makes sense lol

Alyssa Thomas: in addition to a shower cap, I would also wrap a very large bath towel in a turban style around my head while I shower so as not to get the hair damp. Once I finish in the tub, I scram out of the bathroom as fast as possible to a dry and not humid place to prepare for my next step.

personally i wrap it around my head, if makes 1 and a half circles, and pin it. i then wrap it in a silk scarf. it becomes SO SMOOTH and sleek, but it’s pretty flat at the roots. i want to experiment with wrapping the hair up to the opposite side rather than around the back to create volume but that may be a disaster. my current method has ZERO breakage. only issue is it flat hair. i use dry shampoo some mornings to combat this

  • @BlowoutProfessor

Hey Anila! As the others said wrapping it loosely (not tightly) is the best way to go. There are really only two things you want to watch out for.. Don't sleep with your head on top of your hair because it can get sweaty or compressed like that. Try a loose bun or similar high on your head. But remember to keep it very loose so your hair doesn't get indented.

I have two quick questions: 1) Do you recommend putting curled hair up at night (i.e. up in a loose bun, loose ponytail, nothing at all...) when sleeping? 2) Are there any products we should use on day 2 and/or 3 (beyond dry shampoo if needed) to maintain the curls? Thank you in advance! ~ Shannon

Hey, I'm not Chris but thought I'd give my 2pence. I wrap my hair in a loose bun and use a satin scrunchie to hold. - but twist the hair in one direction as you wrap and make sure you get it all in the bun neatly. I've left the tips out before and it kinks. I wouldn't recommend any products on day two, as getting the hair wet is counterproductive, maybe a light mist of hair spray and use fingers to lift hair at roots if tied up the night before

  • @BlowoutProfessor

Hey Diya! Only use the leave in conditioner on damp hair after the shower. Never on dry hair :) For oil use it after you're done styling after the shower... If you don't style you can use it on wet hair. Or if you style use it on your dry styled hair. You can also use oil whenever your ends look dry before the next wash (every 2-3 days for most people).
