How to get an A* in A-Level chemistry - The FULL revision strategy to go from D to A* | SEA
www.samellisacademy.org
SPREADSHEET: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
ANKI: apps.ankiweb.net/
This video runs through the exact method I used to put every single piece of knowledge into my brain to obtain an A*, with 91% in my real A-Level.
This basically just runs you through everything you need to do. Nothing too complicated but it is a graft.

What advice would you give for relearning things from year 12 which you have forgotten ie how should it fit in your revision schedule
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
Prioritise that, Do that before you start reviewing the year 13 stuff. Make anki decks on it as per this video and then you'll always be on top of it as anki will keep asking you stuff you don't know and wont ask the stuff you do understand :)
We need a physics checklist asap

Did you use a spreadsheet like this for Physics?
Please could you do a tutorial on how to make a spreadsheet because I want to make one for Biology and Psychology?
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
You need to download a copy. Click file, download and choose what format. XLSS Is Microsoft spreadsheet.
How long after understanding a spec point would you then move on to exam questions as fully finishing an anki deck can take kinda long? Was anki part of your revision time or was your revision time just for understanding the content?

I really would prioritise the ANKI deck portion of revision, if you keep up to date with you Anki stuff the exam questions become SO EASY.
How did you balance what you learn in college and your own revision and how much time on anki or how many cards were you averaging each day?
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
When you're learning a topic in school, prioritise understanding what's going on. Do the homework's set each lesson and if you didn't get it in the lesson: revise it. Anki is to put stuff from your short term memory into the longterm. So, I'd only make the decks on topics that I'd finished completely. I'd set aside a few hours on a Saturday, review the whole of the topic I'd just learnt (e.g. Kinetics) and THEN make a deck on it. In terms of answering the decks, I'd work through every card I had up for review. I think it was around 100 a day don't take my word for it though. Just whatever I had up for review. I'd sit with a whiteboard and pen and work through them. Hope this helps :)
Can you make one for OCR A chemistry
can we follow the spreadsheet for OCR exam board?
I’m in yr 13 and I have a AS physical and inorganic mock at the end of September to give my predictive grades any tips so I can get a good mark?
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
Of course, you’ve got an AS Paper 1 - what you should do is use the spreadsheet linked, read through the AS Level topics ONLY in physics and inorganic sections, and harshly judge / rate yourself to see what you’re good / bad at. Then after that go away and start with what your worse at, review using videos / textbooks and then make notes. Then, as it’s so soon, we don’t have time necessarily for Anki to be effective but still make the flashcard decks for the future and answer them as you complete the deck. You do have time to answer loads of past paper questions on all the topics. Try and work through 1 of the spec points a day. After you’ve spent 2 weeks ish doing that you’ll have covered it all and you can start doing FULL AS Past papers. Only do paper 1 tho as that’s what you’re being assessed on! Should work a treat!
Is this the same method you'd recommend for bio as well?
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
Yes - even more so, as a lot of it is content. But be sure to pair it with reviews of exam questions frequently as the mark schemes in biology are very specific!
Please post the website when it’s complete🎉👍

No, but soon enough we will have one for all boards!
How long did it take you to revise a topic/ spec point ?
@seachemistry
Жыл бұрын
To go through a whole spec point after already learnt it and I’m just revising it in order to make an Anki deck, anywhere from 3 hour to 5 hours - the longer spec points (transition metals etc) take far longer and sometimes I’d do it over 2 sitting or maybe even 3 at the max!
What if ur watching this like 7 years before exams
