I agree to some extent. Yes you need purpose and meaning and be on a path. But there are plenty of guys who are doing that and still don't understand how attraction works. I have recently met a woman that I started falling for pretty hard and fast. We went on a couple dates and then I had to split town. She was doing all the things you discuss in this video - she was “hooked” as you say. Came back in a week later and surprised her on Halloween. She melted. That was followed by one of the most joyful weeks I’ve ever spent with a girl. I left town again (all for work) and she was leaving photo and text and video messages on a nightly basis. Telling me how much she missed me. All that stuff. Came back into town after another week. She was there at the airport to pick me up! And it felt fantastic to know this was happening. Like I’d lucked out completely. Been in town for four days now and still learning about her. But she is like hot and cold this time around. I have no idea what the hell to make of it. Sometimes it’s just as amazing as in the beginning. Other times it’s almost as if the end is right around the corner. I’m sure I made some of the mistakes you associate with neediness. I was really just trying to spend time with her before I have to leave again for a while this next time. But it may have come off not so well. I read you loud and clear about dialing it back. Pretty sure that’s going to end it for sure, though. At least the 2-4 week mark. And I’m not so sure I want to lose it because it feels pretty damn special to me at this point. I guess what I’m asking is how effective do you think it is to dial it back like 90% but still keep some infrequent contact going? In the case of my work and lifestyle, which is definitely a pretty unusual one (easily mistaken for luxurious or exotic), it may help to bring me back to that phase with her where I actually am very busy with my own life and interests. For sure I know it will help me, though. I gotta get my head screwed back on. Just been such a long time since a girl made me feel this way that I lost the plot a bit...

Good question. So not everything I say works in all situations. If what you're doing isn't working, use a different approach. So with the ex, I suggest asking her what you can do to make her feel differently. Adapt when necessary.
