So not sure if anyone else noticed but ahhh the cakes edges are definitely not straight and are most certainly on an angle.... A set square would have been useful to make sure they are perfectly square from base to top. By the way I use acrylic discs and they do indeed save so much time when decorating!

He also needed to adjust the cake layers then support the cake with dowels or boba straws if the cake layer weren't strong enough the weight of each additional layer. .

Great video but how do you remove the bottom disk before sending the cake out to a customer. Would you just use a cardboard disk for the bottom?.

No you don't. You get a small pallet knife or razor knife and run it along the bottom in between the disc and cardboard layer and simply lift the cake off.

To simplify scraping the sides without catching on your nonslip pad, trim the nonslip pad 1/2-1” smaller than your acrylic disk. You will then be sliding the scraper on your smooth turntable.

The cake was still wonky at the end. I’ve had the discs for about six years. I got them at the same time as my cake decorating friends in order to ganache cakes quickly using the Faye Cahill method.
