Temi!!! Temi!! I'm your fan! And i think I have found a better method than you :D! I invented it myself and I think it's nice. I accidently made it when i was having difficulty with a sketch. So basically, you take the reference photo in your laptop or phone, you lower the opacity, and you trace the outline and then remove the reference photo. Then you can see clearly the lines you need to copy on paper. :D

Funny you said calming voice, I put her video on earlier for a nap :) kinda defeats the purpose of watching the art.. as I was dozing off I kept opening my eyes to see the progress lol
I personally like to do the "hard" method. It feels so much freer and in the end, the proportions won't be exact, placement for placement, but that's what gives it character. But when I first stared out, I absolutely started with tracing. I just love the sketch portion in general.

3rd method for personal pieces or practice, 1st or 2nd if I'm doing it for someone else, especially if they are paying.

i totally agree! the grid method gives me varied results while having an option to do it freehand really allows me to get creative and understand how things are supposed to be. even if it isn’t super accurate, i really love any kind of progress. :)

I once was able to fully free hand and get good results. That was back in school before my art teacher ruined drawing for me. Trying to get back to it but it is so hard, when you can't do what you were once able to. Your channel really helped me a lot though and inspired me to pick up some pencils again. Thank you so much!

I just combine the three depending on what I'm drawing. I know a lot of people are against tracing, but even the most famous artists throughout history used some sort of a tracing technique to get portraits accurate sometimes. It's important to have fun when creating art. Tracing does help the muscle memory as well. I'm really grateful that you included it in your video instead of bashing it.

Same, If you need to trace your reference than so be it. Who cares how you got the end result. Just as long as you don’t start tracing other peoples art and calling it your own. That’s a no-no everywhere.
Temi you’re one of the most honest , sweet , kindhearted and most helpful art creator, I SERIOUSLY IDK HOW MUCH I CAN THANK YOU YOU HELPED ME AND YOURE SO MUCH FUN. THANK YOUUU
This was such a great video, thats how I learned too sketch people with the grid method and its a Gem. The free Hand is tricky but the process is worth it. Very helpful! I am just now getting back to art and one of the things I want to work on is sketching people....

I’ve never used the grid method until recently and it helped out so much. The drawing looks ten times better than if I freehanded it
I'm working on free hand, getting my proportions down & finding my own style. I used to trace comics when I was a kid & I'm into drawing mazes but lately I've been drawing things freehand & teaching myself to draw & I really enjoy your tutorials. Please keep it going Sis!
When I started portraits, I was taught freehanding the entire drawing, but I was never completely satisfied with my results. The proportions were a hit or miss and I always drew the eyes too big. The grid method has been a life saver and restored my confidence in rendering portraits that actually look like the reference lol. Love this video!
I almost always freehand it although I find it helps to study basic anatomy and draw dimensions of the portrait as shapes that aren’t quite visible to help me out when it comes to shading. To be completely honest at least half of what I know about art is a combination of tips I’ve learnt from KZread artists and that is what I find works for me.

Same here! A friend told me to look around the room and point out what shape(s) various things could have, and when I did she said "that's how you can start out sketching, you draw those shapes-- the rest comes together after that." Still the best tip I have ever received.
I have been wanting good tips & tricks for free-hand portrait drawing. Thank you soooo much 🤩 As for the grid method, I feel like I always mess it up

This literally came out at the perfect time. I mostly do fantasy landscapes but just started dipping my toe into portraits so thank you for this💜💜
This is amazing I’ve always had the hardest time with sketching and this is so helpful. The certain tips you give for each way you make them clear and concise. It’s easy to understand, to follow, and it’s real. Real as in you say “I don’t get every detail” and instead of saying just practice this you are clear with what exactly to practice or to do.
I truly appreciate this. Especially when you mentioned the amount of time it took to do each sketch as well as the benefits of each technique so that we can decide if we want to focus on proportions for example
I recently found your channel and now I can't stop watching your videos, your videos have helped a lot, you seem like a really sweet person❤️

Hi Temi! I really love watching your videos, they're really helpful and I've learnt a lot from them! Thank you so much for posting such amazing videos!
I am always trying with number 3 but your art tips have given me a lot of help with that. Love your channel love your art and love the tips!!! thx xx
Oh this is so helpful! There's something about my sketches that kinda look higgy and haggard so this is extremely usable. I stopped tracing a while ago, not becuase i think it's wrong but because i wanted to improve my actual art skills :) (also i stan you for beautiful skin like howw)
I just love watching you draw. It just is the best way to wind down at the end of the day. Thank you for posting 💛
I’ve been free handing for some time but I may start using a different method to get a more accurate sketch. I’m 38 and started later in life on an art journey and I can see my skills improving. Art is my relaxing happy place when I have time between family and work❤️. Love love your channel!!
I learned so much thanks! You're a really good artist! I started my KZread channel bcz of you actually, you inspire me alot, Love you queen! 💕
As a senior citizen, I now use the easy method with a window or my glass table with a gooseneck lamp underneath. During my middle age, I used a projector. When I was a teen and in my twenties, I did great freehand. So I started with the difficult and have now ended up with the easy method.
You must have known that I needed help in this area. I'm trying to learn portrait drawing - freehand method. I like the precision of the grid method but I like the challenge of the freehand method. Thank you so much for this video.
Yayy im so excited great timing I J ust started sketching myself and I am so excited to watch this I have a video idea may I suggest that you do a video drawing things you dont normally do like drawing without a grid or reference or drawing men etc
You.. you're awesome, thank you for this, I got really down on myself today when I was trying to do my first portrait drawing in a while, this helps more than you know
Thank you for this video it was so informative! This really helps with my sketching journey, and encourages me to not give up halfway.
Ah thank you so much! I’ve always wanted to know how to make my sketches better, and amazing video Temi!
Temi i really like your art and your voice it's soo calming please make more videos love your work! Btw you look absolutely beautiful
I use the "hard" and "tracing" method for my digital art. I have a semi-realism art style,so i use references MOSTLY for general shapes and locations for features. But tracing references, especially for face shapes im not familiar with, really helps me learn how to draw them as accurately as possible while keeping my style. Tracing for learning purposes is great!! Ive learned more from tracing than any other method. i heavily suggest artists use it whenever you're having difficulties or trying something new :)
It’s really God that brought up your channel for me cos what??! I was literally frustrated today about my sketches not looking realistic enough and me not finding a channel that actually teaches in depth for slow learners like me. Boom! Your channel pops up tonight. Definitely trying all three.
Everyone is going to hate my method but for portrait (I’ve been striving for hyper realism) - I literally go feature by feature. I will completely finish one feature before I move on to the next - complete shading and all. From eye to cheek bone etc. IMO it’s a really fun way to go about realism sketches.
YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I have never seen an artist who advises are actually helpful, my fav art KZreadr ever . Learned alot from you ❤️
I did grid method at my school and when I was finished dayumm I was proud so thank for reminding me I’ll definitely use it a lot more
thanks for including all three methods. I use all of them depending on what I'm doing and why and I hate that tracing gets such a bad wrap when unless you leave it a line drawing you still need skill to create a finished piece that looks good.
I'm always drawing free hand, it is somehow the most comfortable way for me. I try to use guidelines and every time it is a different set of guidelines, kinda go with inspiration and use what I need for that exact sketch. I liked how you encouraged us to do the free hand method, because it seems difficult at first but it is a great way to study lines and everything else
I was just working on a sketch and this is the PERFECT timing to watch this video. Thank youuuu
Thank you soo much I was waiting for thisss💖
Thanks for the tutorial. This is awesome!
Thank you so much For making this video! Very helpful! I freehand everything but I think I’ll start using reference points to speed things up for me
Very important and helpful video. I haveno Problem with the tracing method. Especially uf you are a beginner and learning the medium is your aim than a good sketch helps alot. If you go freehands and mess i up your whole motivation is gone.
Just started watching and I already know it's gonna be a great one!
Your so helpful with this I’m getting better each time. Thank u so much this video is so helpful in improving my drawing
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to test it out!
Awesome tips. Thanks for sharing :)
i never knew sketches were supposed to like that ...tyssssm❣❣i just went around without refrence points and now i feel like i was on the correct path but didnt realise❣❣❣your video relly helped me...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience
I am a young artist, and I personally like the last method, I use it all the time. And thanks for this amazing vids❤
These are all great steps I’ve learned going through art school… I myself went back to my roots in how I first learned how to draw with pen. Everything starts off as light scribbling and some how turns into an outline.
The grid method has never failed me, I also use it if my drawing is bigger than the photo reference.
This was sooo useful! and the grid method was really useful as i am trying to learn it!, thank you very much! :)
I used to outline in the beginning, and it was quite helpful because I started to understand the lines, as of now I am in the Grid, and practice free hand 🙂🙂
THANK YOU! I use the freehand method, but definitely still struggle to get it "perfect". I always end up needing measurement proportions, because my reference is never the same size as my sketch, but overall these are some fantastic tips. And, congrats on almost 200k!!
Thank you so much for these tips, they’ve helped me a lot!
I used this method a lot when teaching my middle and high school students. It’s such a useful technique that gives young students confidence.
Ahh so glad I found your account. Very professional, and simple to follow. thankyou so much! X
You have no idea how fast I clicked!!! I’ve been needing this video!!! 🙏🏼✨ thank you

I normally use the free hand method but I want to try the grid method. Thanks for all the advice you have given us so far I really love watching your videos.
This helps me with my scetching and over all proportions💗
Yess i love this. I love the way that you considered this many others dont thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes!!! Love the video! Needed thus! Subscribed
I love you're so inspiring❤ THANK YOU SO MUCH
I use freehand w/ reference points, sometimes tracing the most difficult parts. It sometimes does get annoying bc it shows how off everything else can be but at the same time I like the freedom that comes with it. I am not good by any means but I try
I usually draw over the reference picture but only with base shapes (triangle for the nose, oval for the eyes), and then I make the gridlines and draw the base shapes, then I refine the features free hand and sometimes trace them directly when I’m not able to get it right (rarely though). I’ve tried doing the whole sketch free hand with reference points as well, however the features often came out wonky and I’d almost always have to trace it at the end. Great video as always Temi!!
I found your channel about week ago and have to say that you are an amazing artist 😊👍
Thanks for the video I love your personality and your voice and I love to watch your videos again and aging and this video was the best of all ❤😊

Oh amazing thanks I love you so much . You really help me ! ❣️😩✨
Great info! Ive tried tracing, gridlines, a tracing app and free hand. I dont love how my gridline sketches turn out. I often trace the location of the features lightly and fill in with a freehand approach. I do watercolor and want to spend most of my time painting.
I love you so much you inspired me to start drawing and you make me motivated to draw every day.♥
I usually always try and freehand my art because I feel like if I try tracing it it's the easy way out but maybe I'll change it up and try the tracing method, great video btw!
Calming voice ❤❤Thanks🎉
