Tip for crayons (from a broke artist who uses them often): A paper with more tooth (a grainy, slightly textured surface) will give you less of a waxy finish or a plasticy sheen. Your artwork is already amazing, though! Hope this helped!

Just a quick tip for when your using solvent (with pencils or anything), you don't need to have a lot on your brush. I usually wipe off any of the excess on a tissue or paper towel until it feels almost dry. This will both help it blend better and not have that grease stain around the edge. Hope this helped!

You can also scrape off the excess wax that clumps and enough of the pigment will stay on the paper. you can reapply and do this multiple times until you get the flat look you want with out the waxy texture. You end up with a mess when you're done though. Lol

So first time around I had to watch silently. .I was concentrating so hard, you know...focused on right where you were making marks. When you got to the white gelly roll...I'm like "wait, what is she doing?! It looks like the person has chapped lips, or a disease. Stop! Don't do that. Oh no, it's all ruined." So then I sat back, kind of disappointed...and boom, the whole picture came back into focus instead of just the tiny section you were working on and suddenly they were lips again, but with lip gloss on them. I was amazed! It was a tree/forest kind of moment. It was gorgeous! I can't do that with colored pencil...yet, can't see me doing it with crayon...yet...lol. So then I went back later and started from the beginning but this time with the volume on and yes, I agree, Crayola should cut you a check! I wouldn't have bothered with Crayola if it wasn't for you and a few other artists that keep showing you can make great looking art from budget friendly supplies. Sometimes I prefer them over the more expensive supplies. Thank you.

I’m so excited to see you draw with the pencil crayons!! I’ve started an art journey myself and I love experimenting with everything I can do with different materials ever since you opened my eyes to the possibility of mixing markers with pencil crayons! I’m trying literally every combination and finding areas of style I love that I never dreamed of! Never gonna be mad I can’t draw like everyone else ever again, it just wasn’t my style, thank you for opening the door to what my style can be!

One way to blend cheap crayons is by taking a sharp took such as an exacto knife or even a tooth pick and use it to scrape off the top layer of the crayon. I’ve used this trick a lot and it really works!

Surprisingly if you set crayons in hot water for a little they can blend better! That’s what I use when I have to use crayons I don’t use them often but when I do this helps me then again I don’t do realism 😅 and is helpful if you don’t have solvent

Something I love about your process is including vibrant tones in the work. It kinda reminds me of impressionism. I think I remember my art professor saying that, in impressionism, there is no pure white and pure black, its always a shade of another color (like yellow, blue, or purple).
