That should be fine, but it really depends on your hair texture / curl length
Do you have to wear a durag for 24 hours

Maybe you didnt brush enough or lay down your hair with the shampoo enough, or not enough lather.

keep bushing, if not you need to moisturize your hair making it easier to lay down

go closer to the water, and press on the durag
