Crazy bro me and you got almost the same exact hairline, my right side is much weaker than my left, the vertical bar is short therefore have to get pushed back if I want a 100% natural shape up , just started self cutting too

I hope this will help some people, I’ll try my best to explain what a friend of a friend told me. When you start waving, you don’t want your hair to go above 2, he said you wanna keep it at a .5 or 1, max 1.5 because what your doing for the first few months is training your hair to grow and curl flat. Cut everything same length unless you’re going 180 & Not too low where you lose progress. Once your hair has been “trained” enough (length depends on the person) you can start wolfing. He said if you wolf when you’re starting you essentially just brush the top layer. He also said brush everwhere, even in the shower which ngl I’m still skeptical about but he has really nice waves so I guess it works. Me so far, 3 months from bald, 1 cut since my hair grows slow, right side started coming in, I’ll follow his advice see if it saves some time

So how should I brush everyday? My hair is long enough for the hard brush. I did a wash and style today and I have my durag on. Should I put in product later tonight and start brushing at work?

dk if this could work for you but I realized after a wash n style, when my hair dries, I have to brush consistently for at least an hour. I can’t tell you to use the products or not since i’m trying to get waves without the pomade.

Dry brushing does nothing for me. I can do it for hours and it doesn’t train at all. I wash and style with a detangle comb and then plastic gloves. Rag up and im good to go. Sometimes dont brush at all. Just my experience 🤷🏾‍♂️

I feel the same way man...hair type plays a factor because I really only see my waves pull when I have some moisture/oil combination...but I will say too much moisture will make it harder in the longer run because the moisture is what creates the over curl.

I thought dry brushing is a no no? My hair is like a 4c..and if I dry brush, won't it damage my progress because it should be moisturized so that brushing can manipulate the coils?? If I dry brush, especially with 4c hair, my coils won't budge.
