It's crazy, I just bought a 120hz monitor for my Xbox One S and found out yesterday my HDMI was the reason I wasn't getting 120hz. Heading to Best Buy now to grab an HDMI 2.1. This video is the only one on KZread that explains this perfectly.

Note: Any Tv/Monitor 120 Hz or more will work, You just need the right cables and set it up how you're monitor is supported like if ur monitor is 1080p switch to 1080p. If you're monitor is 120 Hz or more you can set you're xbox to 120 Hz ( Idk if this works for Fortnite seeing that they only have 120fps mode for new gen consoles, I just e-mailed epic so nothing to worry about).

Still doesn’t work for my, not sure the issue, I have the Xbox one s and I am using the original cable, changed my setting to 120 Hz and 1440 p and tried to override, still doesn’t work. (My monitor is capable of 1440p and 144 Hz) and my pc runs games just fine on it. Can’t figure out the issue. Tried to play fortnite and its pixelated, probably 1080p, and I have ‘show frame rate’ on and I’m barely getting 60fps. If anyone knows the issue please let me know, thanks!

your contrast and brightness have to be like perfect same with color settings, trust me you can get a clear picture.

You need to have a 144hz monitor and yours is most likely 60hz

Theres a possibility that you just reused the old HDMI cable you already had and didnt buy a new one which allows you to reach 120fps. I also did that because I knew nothing about HDMI cables and how it can also affect your Hz. Now i use a 8K HDMI cable which is overkill but If I do decided to upgrade my monitor or to a next gen console i wont have to rebuy another HDMI cable.

The Xbox One Family Runs games as a capped 60fps. You will NOT get more then 60fps. Enabling 120Hz lowers the input delay but will not raise your frame rate. Only on the series s and X can it play 120fps and 120hz. Hope this helped.

No, I wish it was that simple. The day one editions hdmi port max'd out at 60fps. They upgraded their hdmi port when they made the xbox one s & xbox one x and next gen consoles also.

No, your monitor needs to support the high refresh rate.

It’s over 120hz so ofc it would anything under 120hz won’t work, you could get. A 240hz but if you have a console that only goes to 120hz it will cap at 120hz
