Thanks Steve. We appreciate your info videos. I’m hoping you or someone will bring a tutorial of loading not only FT8 into the X6200 but also fldigi. Since I don’t speak Linux I need step by step tutorial. I’ve been watching the io group for the Sbitx radio which also runs on an internal raspberry Pi4 and all the apps come loaded in the radio such as FT8 and fldigi. No external computer needed. So why can’t we do the same on the X6200? I would like to use my little Bluetooth keyboard paired to the radio to use all these digital modes including PSK31, RTTY, CW and others. We just need a little help to learn how to install everything and of course the software needs to be the correct version for Linux.

A question - did WSJTx switch the x6200 into the Usb-D (data mode) or leave it in normal upper sideband? With the radio in data mode I would have thought you should not be able to get feedback between microphone and speaker. 73 Ed

WSJT-X did switch the radio over to USB-D. The interfere I demonstrated is generated internally to the radio and is not (as far as I can tell) from the microphone/speaker.

Hey TO: You talked about the built in wsjtx instance on the internal Linux computer to the radio. Can you go into that a bit more? I'm looking at this radio, and if there's an integrated linux instance there, accessible to the end user, that would be VERY interesting to me!

Here is a video where I got it all working: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mK5pl5Otiqq-ZLw.html This is an upgrade to the X6100 and I did a LOT of ground work on the X6100 to get this thing rooted and linux installed etc. There is lots of development on this rig and will continue to be more. For the X6200, I've already confirmed that it is root-able as well: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d3al1qiehMnQY6g.html

Hey TO, have you ever had a problem with the main WSJT-X window not being able to be moved around the screen on the raspberry pi? Sorry I’m a windows guy and first time pi owner so this is a new one for me.

  • @temporarilyoffline

Your screen resolution is probably too low. WSJT-X really likes 1920.x1080 - If you still can't move the window, or don't have a higher res monitor, try "Control+Space" to select the window menu just like you would in windows and select Move, from there you can use the arrow keys or the mouse.

The solar cycle is interesting. a few years ago when it started, it was great... it picked up in solar activity and it got better... now there is too much solar activity and we are wiped out for the other reason... soon it will be going back down and we'll be making contacts and celebrating... and then it will bottom out again and we'll go back to complaining. The way of the ham!

Which driver did you use? I did not see that in video. Looking for a Mac driver. When I connect the radio to my computer, the radio is not seeing the computer, and vice versa.

  • @temporarilyoffline

There is no driver needed for any OS - make sure you're plugged into the "Dev" USB port. If that still doesn't work, you might have a unicorn - try a different computer? The sound card is a "C-Media Electronics CM108" device if you have a conflict somewhere.

If you don't have either, I'd get the 6200. It will have "longer legs" as Xiegu will slow development on the 6100 and eventually stop... The x6200 is going to be a roller coaster for the next year
