@@djkobafemiI'm currently learning fpv too. A radiomaster Tx12 (elrs version) and tryp sim is what i went with. The Tx12 is quite affordable compared to other radios. It is also well featured and it's pretty small. I have also seen people freestyle with the Tx12. As for simulators, Tryp sim has really nice and wide maps and ability to chase cars, bikers planes etc. plus it was affordable too. hope this helps

This is just what the hobby needs. One place to refer people to that are trying to put all the pieces together organized in a liner fashion. I remember when I went all in from scratch and didn’t know anything. I saw a quad flying and it lit a fire in me so I bought a radio and a RTF ship. Heck, I didn’t even know how to bind a receiver. I spent hours and hours scouring KZread for bits and pieces so I could put it all together. It was very painful and took so much time I almost quit. Of course I destroyed the ship and then decided I could build one. I didn’t even have a soldering gun. Again, much pain. If you tried to do this by yourself without the help of a friend that fly’s 4 or 5 years ago, it was very hard to get good information in a format that was helpful. I applaud this effort, and I hope you see it thru for all the people that don’t have good local resources to help them. My local hobby shops are worthless when it comes to quads.

Several years ago, I build a quadcopter. not much information back then as today, and no one around me had the same interest in this hobby. After some crushes, I given up. I got a DJI and never tried to DIY a quad again. Earlier of this year, I subscribed your channel, and your videos bring me the passion back. I took out the tool box and upgrade every component. Now I am still build new quads, and still alone. Thanks Me Steel, you inspired me. Hope one day I can fly as good as you.

Greetings Brother! Boy, I wish I had found you 3 years ago. My son and I started small, UDI 818A,..Syma X5 series, ..Dromida Vista... Very easy, but we had seen KZread videos of racing drones and wanted the FPV experience. So, after getting the darn FAA permit for drones, I then proceeded to basically light $ 800 on fire by buying a Parrot Beebop 2 with the huge Skycontroller that held my iPad Air2. Now, I gotta say, the drone itself is awesome! The darn thing is faster than anything else we’d flown. The GPS functions and ability to pre-program a flight plan and just hit takeoff and watch is incredible......Except ( you already know where I’m going with this I’m sure). WI-FI ABSOLUTELY SUCKS DONKEY BALLS FOR FPV!!! The amount of lag experienced if you get any respectable distance between the controller and the drone, makes it useless for anything but line of sight. My wallet, and my butt were extremely sore! Lol! I found a range extender online, but after reading up on Wi-Fi and it’s limitations I feel it would be like throwing good money after bad. I’ve also thought about just installing an FPV transmitter and getting a pair of Fat Sharks. At any rate, he’s really wanting to get into the true FPV experience, and we’ve began looking into building our own racing quad. (He’s 13) I have extensive experience building RC vehicles for rockcrawling. We have bought RTR and built from kits, several of the awesome vehicles offered by Axial ( SCX 10, Wraith, RR10 Bomber, and my favorite, the huge Yeti XL), but I’m relatively new to the FPV quad scene. I’m liking your videos so I was wondering if you could answer just a couple things: 1). For a racing quad, Kit or RTF? 2). As far as my Beebop 2, is a Wi-Fivrange extender the answer or should I just mod it by adding a FPV transmitter paired to some goggles 3). Have you had any experience with the recently developed “game changer” in FPV offered by DJI the past couple months I’ve been hearing about and if so, what are your thoughts? At any rate, you’ve got a couple loyal subscribers now my friend! Thanks for the video. I’ve been in the RC scene long enough to know the difference between the knowledgeable folks and the ones just wanting to preach on KZread. You’re the real deal Sir. Thank you

This is exactly what I needed @Mr. Steele. I got into basic fpv about a month ago. Bought a toy grade drone off amazon ($23) got gud with it. (It’s only has altitude hold) I bought a 3 in one camera, cut off the connector and soldered it to the shit drone. Got some cheap $50 goggles and have been having a blast ever since. I ordered a taranis qx7, will be here tomorrow. My question is...... Should I get a 4 inch quad or just get a brushless whoop instead? I have flown Acro Mode somewhat and wasn’t that terrible at it. Been watching a fuck ton of your videos as well as @rotorriots. All you guys are giving me so much motivation to get further into the hobby. Any responses would be greatly appreciated!

:))) you are exactly whom these videos are for. Good timing haha So I’ll be making these videos over the next week or so. Build video included. And which parts I recommend etc. how to get good before you take off with a real quad etc. I’d recommend building a 3” or a 5”. 3” will be cheaper. And lighter meaning it will break less. But 5” is ultimately where you’ll wanna be I think. I’ll talk about these things in my upcoming videos. I’ll try not to make you wait too long lol

So awesome to be hearing from the man himself. I’m thinking I will build the 3” and upgrade later to the 5. I still crash the shit drone I got now. So a 3” will be a great start. Thanks brochacho 🤙

@@MrSteeleFPV As someone that's relatively new I'd have to say go for the brushless whoop first. Before it might have made sense to skip right to something bigger, but it's a new era for whoops. Something like the Tinyhawk is going to be a way better option. You can crash it over and over without breaking it. You can buy a set of batteries and an extra charger that will allow you to fly nonstop for less than the cost of a couple good 4s batteries. It already comes with a charger so you don't have the cost of something that can bigger batteries. You're not having to constantly replace props. The batteries are less dangerous. You don't need to purchase any tools or materials to build it. Then once you're ready to move on to something bigger and more expensive you still have a great indoor quad you'll get use out of. If you're new focus on getting in as cheap as possible (with the exception of maybe skipping over super cheap transmitters to go right to Q X7 or X-Lite), and then once you know you're going to stick with it only buy quality stuff. If you build a 3-5" quad right away you're going to be spending hundreds of dollars more immediately, and a lot of what you buy you will end up replacing because you had to cut corners because the upfront cost was so much higher.

@@MrSteeleFPV i have a friend who has bought/built several various 2, 2.5, and 3inch drones. The stuff for the 2-3 inch range seems to not be as robust when it comes to electronics. He has had ESCs smoke at an increased rate along with VTXs that are likely meant for 25mw having shorter life at 200mw(emax I am looking at you with your BabyHawk stacks). meanwhile the same friend has had much better luck with 5inch builds.

JoryIsHere I think the direction Steele is going to take with his advice is to minimize up-front waste. That is if the end goal is building/flying 5 inch quads. Qx7 is a perfectly useable radio for beginners and seasoned pilots also. It’s relatively low cost and can be used for as long as it lasts. As he says in the video, it’s very important to build your first quad so you can fix it when you smash it. A 3 inch build is similar to a 5 inch just smaller scale. Starting with a micro bnf will ultimately be wasted money. $100 for a tiny hawk plus $ for batteries, that’s $150 that could go to a build instead. Or a quality solder station, another necessity of the hobby.
