How to form, pour, and finish concrete for a pool deck.
How to install concrete for a pool patio.
In this video we formed and poured concrete for a 600 square foot pool patio. I'm showing you how I do basic forming for a pool deck, then how I pour and broom finish the concrete. I cut joints by hand and used an edger for the finished edge.

That stand up screed is a great idea. I work by myself a lot, and I'm old. I'll be digging around the shop for a bull float head to make one.

Looking good as usual. To answer your question. I never could get dependable guys. Always had to drag people out of bed. Even my own son got that way before he finally quit on me. That kind of stress put me down with a heart attack. Never did recover enough to go back at it.

I have a 115 year old house that needs concrete repair work and I have learned a lot in 2 days from watching your videos. I feel confident that I can now practice in my basement where I installed drain tile. Then I can move on to repairing the front porch and rear patio without demolishing them. Your videos are much appreciated! Thank you!

Love your videos. It makes me feel like "I could totally do this!" Thanks for all of them! So amazing! You know would be awesome? You showing how to replace a pool deck! The reason being I've got an old pool and would love to replace the coping. If that is even an option? Do you have any plans on doing something like that? Or have you worked at doing that before and just didn't video it? Thanks!

@@nestorsalvador9236 It definitely could, but you’ve really got to consider how much you’ll be using a specialized piece of equipment like that too. That machine Mike had in the video goes for about $10K. If you only need it once a month or so, you might be better off just renting. Most equipment rental companies will drop it off and pick it up as well or you’ll be needing a trailer for it also.

Your right about the break over point for bugging or getting someone to pump it. I typically tell them 7 yards or less get a buggy. Anymore than that you need to pump it. With our warmer temperatures the mud will start drying and get hard to work up.

7 yards or less for a pump? your nuts that is not even a full truck. pumping is a pain in the ass and expensive, I would rather use a couple wheel barrels if I couldnt get a power buggy

From wisonsin. Worked around pools, from installing, to pouring concrete. Very nice job! Way to take care of the pool edges, against the coping. Also have you ever dumped a wheelbarrow of concrete into a pool? (It's amazing to see, but don't recommend lol)

Great videos. I have a garage that steps down of 9inchs when walking in the door. There is a concrete subfloor in place do I have to put it 8inch of concrete again. What would you do.? Fill with 4inch gravel and four inch concrete? The garage is 16 ftx10. Would you recommend maybe half 4inch gravel 4inch concrete then slope in down to garage door?

  • @MikeDayConcrete

4" gravel and 4" concrete is fine. You'd have to price it out both ways. You may not save any money with the gravel unless you spread and compact it yourself.
