Excellent video! You have CLEARLY presented how to form the imperfect subjunctive. You're just adding "the base sse", then 'mos' or 'em', depending on who is speaking. Very clear, obrigado!

Olá! Tudo bem? To oversimplify, the *Subjunctive Mood* is used to talk about desires, doubts, wishes, conjectures, emotions, and possibilities (statements contrary to fact). The *Indicative Mood* is used to talk about facts and other statements that are believed to be true and concrete (factual statements). The *Imperative Mood* is used to give commands.

@@PlainPortuguese Tô revendo esse assunto pela terceira ou quarta vez. Essa conjugação do subjuntivo até hoje ainda me dá o mais problema. 'Se eu pudesse, eu ia'... esses tipos de frases são simples. São os outros usos que requerem extra tempo. Tô um pouquinho mais confortável que antes, mas ainda preciso de mais prática e exposição de vida real com essa conjugação. Espero que cê esteja tendo um bom dia e te vejo próximo vídeo. 😉

Fico muito feliz com seu carinho! Obrigada! Quanto ao modo subjuntivo, há apenas três tempo - presente, imperfeito e futuro. Esses tempos podem ser simples ou compostos. Exemplos 1. Presente Espero que ele faça a lição de casa (simples) Espero que ele tenha feito a lição de casa (composto) 2.Imperfeito Se eu viajasse para a Europa, visitaria Portugal (simples) Se eu tivesse viajado para a Europa, teria visitado Portugal (composto) 3. Futuro Quando eu comprar uma casa nova, você virá me visitar? (simples) Quando eu tiver comprado uma casa nova, você virá me visitar? (composto)

Se eu tivesse dinheiro, compraria imediatamente uma passagem aérea para Curitiba para estudar português lá.

I always struggle with this concept so thank you very much for covering it (and in so much detail!). Most videos I find just use examples with the format "se eu -sse, eu -ia" but the weirdo example is very good to highlight the many many other uses of the imperfect subjunctive! Muito obrigado pela aula!😊 I've seen the video of the future subjective and have just finished the imperfect subjective in Brazilian Portuguese and obviously they correspond to the first and the second conditional in English. Although it's been only 6 weeks since I started studying portuguese, now I have a good idea about different grammatical structures! I clearly see that the main challenge of learning portuguese is verb conjugation! So, doing grammar exercises is critical ! Would you recommend any website where I can do some exercises or a certain useful grammar book for that matter?

Olá! Tudo bem? The sentence "If I *went* to Brazil I *would be* happy" deals with something hypothetical. It is as if you were saying "I wish I were in Brazil now. If I *went* to Brazil, I *would be* happy." Since we are talking about something hypothetical, we must use the Imperfect Subjuntive. "Se eu *fosse* ao Brasil, eu *ficaria* feliz." (Below is the link to a lesson on the when *ficar* means *to be.)* Now, let's say that you have plans to come to Brazil someday. When that comes true, you will be happy. Oi Bea. Obrigado pelo video. I notice in the clause ele poderia entender o que os brasileiros falam, you use the presente do indicativo rather than the Futuro do Pretérito o que os brasileiros falariam. Does that mean the agreement game is not applicable in this situation? Muito obrigado.

Olá, Tony! Tudo bem? In the clause given '...o que os brasileiros falam' is pointing at something that is real, that happens. '...what Brazilians speak.' Let's suppose that he often interacts with Brazilians, but doesn't seem to understand what they say. But if he spoke Portuguese he could understand what Brazilians say. - 'Se ele falasse português, ele poderia entender o que os brasileiros falam.' (Present).
