How to Force Breed a Rabbit Using This Simple Tool

In this video we share a tip that we learned from a fellow rabbit farmer from Trinidad and Tobago. This is truly a really useful method to breed rabbits that are difficult to breed or won't lift for the buck.

    From the video I watched, it appears you are not using leaves, vegetables to feed your rabbits. Perhaps you apply pelletized feed for them. Please what are the components of your pelletized food.That is the items you use to produce your rabbit meals. I am rabbit Farmer in Nigeria. Just 2 months in the business. Thanks. Sir Emma

    We use a pelleted feed manufactured locally by a company called Nutramix. We don't make our own feed at present so I wouldn't be able to help with a formulation, but that's a direction we are looking into.

    Big up guys and nuff respect to my countrywoman Annisa. Great stuff. I personally have never tried this method as we took a different route with Artificial Insemination. It would be great if you guys did a follow-up though. It would be nice to see the effectiveness and far as conception rates. To see whether or not the forced breeding effectively induces ovulation, which is key for conception. But great job either way, it worked.

  • @jshrabbits4227

    @jshrabbits4227

    Жыл бұрын

    Maybe you can separate them for a while, like a week or 2 then try mating again. Otherwise you may have to get another buck. That's where you went wrong though. Unless it's a huge space like a colony you should not keep the male and female together. Females can be extremely territorial. So if you are using cages you need to separate them and when you're breeding you bring the doe to the buck cage.

    Problem is if you leave doe and buck together,the buck will not stop trying to make her daily,and female will be stressed,some even get so stressed they actually kill the boy rabbit or casterade it,this kind of breeding is less stressful for both the male and female,you breed them once,and they go to their own Cage for about 2 months,one month for pregnancy and other month for bringing babies up.If you leave with male it will try to hump her every day for the rest of its life,even during pregnancy.This is the most humane way and stress free of breeding rabbits.

    There is nothing immoral about it. Consent is a human idea. Probably the most important concept that a human could ever learn, but It doesn't exist to animals. They are biologically driven to reproduce. If a rabbit is not interested in reproduction then there is something wrong with them and they need help to learn to fulfill their biological imperatives. Not to mention they are farm animals. They MUST reproduce to be profitable. On a farm it's either this, or butcher the rabbit. They are property. Concepts of self ownership and consent are lost on their tiny brains. Once they become pregnant and hormones kick in they get happy about it and raise their kits, and usually from then on they don't give many problems breeding. Does who consistently don't want to breed have to be culled as do any offspring they produce as you don't want that as a common trait in your herd.

    You even pointed out ‘something is wrong’, and I think a good breeder should consider why and if they want to breed them at all if they are reluctant. Personally, I would butcher. Of course it’s probably mostly women who have a heart for them because we have felt the pain of birth and rape. I would rather be butchered than forced to have babies. Business shouldn’t be inhumane. It’s not about consent, it’s about stewardship. To each their own, but I do think this is a gross practice.
