    I'm enjoying peeking into the dark corners of health and fitness. My sister who has a BS in Forensics, but identifies as an MD, said all this is hokum and I'm too ignorant to understand. After all, I only have a BS in Legal Studies and identify as a bookkeeper, writer, and POD digital creator. But thanks to you two and others, I've cut sugar, lost 14 lbs, and am weight training to regain lost muscle at 56. She however is still overweight and suffering from migraines. But I guess she knows better. #WorshippingAtTheAlterOfBigPharma

    RN here. This guy IS all hogwash, he clearly says he’s not a doctor and cannot practice medicine. He’s a collection of all of the health podcasts available. He doesn’t even say what the formula is for predicting death. As for your sister, it is really hard to work in healthcare and also care for yourself since the job demands so much of one person. If she’s an MD she does know a lot, but knowledge does not mean she will act on that knowledge. As you know, losing weight is hard. Takes dedication and discipline to eat well and workout. Good on you for losing weight! Keep it off with exercise and vegetables! 🥦

  • @sfriscea

    @sfriscea

    @@Allisnn My sister is NOT an MD, she has a BS in Forensics. I joked about her "identifying" as a doctor. She is not even employed at this point, so no time-constraints excuses. Gary doesn't claim to be a doctor. He does discuss the factors in early death in this video as well as others. The rest is science, which is always evolving as we learn more, and is accessible to everyone and only limited by our own understanding. Let's not forget that doctors PRACTICE medicine, which evolves. That evolution, I believe, is greatly hindered by money and power. Certain industries make way too much money off sick people than to help people be healthy by digging into root issues. Granted, I go to V.A., so I'm very jaded toward traditional medicine in general.

  • @Allisnn

    @Allisnn

    I have to agree, well said. That being said, I still think Gary is just as bad as the industries who are looking to make money off sick people. He’s selling something, his genetics testing kit. When I listen to him, he seems to know it all by saying people are just missing certain factors, it seems too good to be true. Most often when things sound that way, they are. Also, I’ve watched a few of his talks with different podcasters and his information is wrong. So he’s spreading misinformation as well, stating that West Nile is spread by Zika mosquitoes. It’s scary to me to see the comments, mostly people thanking him and thinking he is so wonderful. Giving credit to someone who claims big things but doesn’t show results. My concern is that a lot of people don’t understand the medical world, so when they hear someone like Gary they think he knows what he’s talking about when he’s just a salesman trying to sell his kit.

    Gary really is a wealth of information. I did find an error, or oversimplification, in his explanation of mitochondrial function. He said that the Krebs Cycle rotated to create ATP. It is actually the step after the Krebs Cycle (citric acid cycle) that spins. In the process called Oxidative Phosphorylation, a protein in the mitochondrial membrane called APTsynthase that spins to create ATP. I'm just a 64 year old retiree who has found a passion in how our bodies work. I am not trying to detract from anything that Gary said, just clarifying.

But I have to say it is so difficult when people get into the arbitrary details and stray into logical fallacies of causation versus correlation, “I got the secret sauce” 😑. I’ve seen other content where this guy talks about changing the molecular shape of water, selling some magic wand …. it just makes me want to choke in my vomit 🤢 but… It doesn’t mean there’s some jewels of information in his viewpoint and message

    You need to find root of your pain and then worok to solve it. If it's biologically you need to remove all toxins from your body, lower inflamation, training daily, sleep at same time every night, reduce Hb1c and lower insulin in blood, avoid processed food and sugar at all cost, eat animal based diet, meat and egs mostly and you can see in just 1 month you become different person. If your pain is psychologicaly then i'll suggest to do same but include writing too and try to answer your own questions. Stoics have that "5 why" practice google it it's very good practice to processing stuff and stimulate pretfrontal cortex.
