and also please tell me if the oil honda oem 5w30 fully synthetic is good for 5000km / 3000miles or does it last longer because my owners manual says 3000 miles. and i dont understand it for a full synthetic oil its pretty short drain interval

  • @stefanmohler2994

ali usmani Conventional oil=3000-5000 miles, full synthetic= 7,500-15,000 miles. It all depends on what type you get. To be on the safe side, use the lower numbers.

ali usmani Does this happen when you're breaking? If so, it is possible that your rotors are warped. If not I would have them rebalance the tires as long as none of your rims are visually bent. Vibration at high speeds is usually always the tires. I know my name isn't Scotty. I just wanted to help! I know how bad it can suck to have vibration at higher speeds.

My 2002 Honda Accord's steering wheel was VERY wobbly. I rotate my tires every 6K miles. I got it fixed by replacing the rack and pinion gear. Not cheap (about 50% of the Blue Book value of my car) but I got the shop to throw in an inspection sticker and alignment for free. My steering is very tight now and I love it.

This also helps when you are experiencing alignment problems but worn parts and an alignment are not the culprit. My car pulled to the right but everything was perfect up front. Swapped front to back, back to front, problem solved. Obviously, one of my tires is worn improperly. Nothing a few burnouts can't fix.

Every time I've dealt with a shaking steering wheel on a front wheel drive car, I've put the front of the car on jack stands, started the engine, put it in gear, and watched the wheels/tires as they rotated. Always found the problem to be a bad tire. A lot less work and I've zeroed in on exactly which tire.

Recently I had a wobbling steering wheel at most speeds. The problem was a broken belt inside the tire which was making a spot in the tire bulge. The bulge was causing the wobbling. Luckily I checked it out because the tire would have blown out eventually.

  • @dragonskunkstudio7582
    @dragonskunkstudio75827 жыл бұрын

Also watch out for popped off weights. On steel rims you'll have weights placed the edge of the rim to balance them. If one falls off it unbalances the tire and will make it wobble at higher speeds. Sometimes you can tell if a weight is missing as there's a spot with more or less dirt and wear to where it used to be. Just have to take it to a tire shop and ask for a balancing of the tires.

Great job on recommending the breaker bar over the air gun. Personally I'd take it a step further and say tighten it with whatever you carry in your car. For me, it's my 4-way lug wrench. Never leaves my passenger seat. That way if I get a flat, I KNOW I can take it off.

I'd say a wheel weight falling off and thus causing a balance issue is more likely than a wheel bending from some minor curb rash. Stick on wheel weights can come off fairly easily, but even the ones that wedge in between the rubber and the wheel can come off. I've also had steering wheel shake from mud, snow, and ice caught on the inside of the wheel which throws the balance off.

Heeeeey Scotty! Love your videos. Great education on a very complex and multi-faceted technology! But let me ask you, Scotty, why is the 80 amp fuse ALWAYS blowing out just as soon as I install it? I have a 1993 Honda Civic CX. One morning my car was entirely DEAD so I followed your advice and tracked down the reason. A blown 80 amp "block fuse". I thought I had the problem solved but as soon as I installed the new 80 amp fuse it blew! When I attach the Civic's battery cables to the battery the POSITIVE terminal loudly snaps and has a spark and at the same time the 80 amp fuse sparks, snaps and blows! Do you know the cause? I love my funky, beat up 1993 Honda Civic CX and HATE my 2014 Honda LX and I wanna ride! Thank you!

Scotty, I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey that the steering wheel shake left and right when I drive in slow speed. I have had all four new tires re-balanced twice, rotated the front tires to the back and forth, it still doing the same thing. The van has newly installed shocks and bushing, the front wheels also do not wobble as I checked it. The steering wheel tie rods also still in good shape, the only thing I found is the steering wheel is kind of when turning. By the way, I also replaced the right side motor mount recently. Where do you think I should going after to diagnose the problem.

@scottykilmer - My 2001 Mazda MPV is doing something odd in the steering. When I accelerate from a complete stop, the steering wheel jerks to the right about 45 degrees. The car continues to drive straight, and if I pull the steering wheel to "straight," I end up going off to the left. Get this, though: as I let off the accelerator once I have reached my cruising speed (anywhere from 35-65 MPH) the steering wheel returns to center and the car continues driving straight. My local tire shop checked out my front end thoroughly and found the rack and pinion to be nice and tight, as well as the tie rod ends - no play in them at all. Ditto for my bearings. There's no play in the wheels with the front end jacked up. Did find the bushings and ball joint were shot on the passenger side, so we replaced both lower control arms; we also found the struts were frozen so I replaced them as well. So, what's left? Could the transmission be sending too much torque just to the passenger side at low speed during acceleration? Could the brakes not be disengaging sufficiently on the passenger side, dragging down the right side and causing it to pull the steering wheel? The most puzzling thing about it to me is that the car drives straight when accelerating at low speed even though the steering wheel pulls to the right pretty significantly.

Scotty my car has a staggered setup and I just put new tires on. There is now a slight vibration felt through the seat at around 60 KPH and 100KPH but at no other speeds in between, above or below the aforementioned speeds. Would that indicate an issue with the rear tires since the slight vibration can't be felt through the steering?

I had a nasty shimmy at higher speeds (about 50 to 70 mph) so I assumed it was a balancing issue but it persisted after an alignment and balancing so I rotated the tires and that got rid of it therefore it narrowed it down to two wheels/tires. When the time came for new tires, I bought 4 new tires and the problem came back so got two more OEM wheels and swapped them out but it didn't cure the problem. Again rotating the tires/wheels proved the issue was with two specific wheels/tires. To end this story, it turned out to be two consecutive sets of bad tires! Top that!

They did the alignment and the rim was rebalanced. I picked up my car and hoped on the freeway and noticed a wobble, took the car to get rebalanced the from two tires and I still have the wobble. If anything I think the wobble got worse, tie rods, ball joints and everything looks good. two inquiries. First, I thought when tires were rotated you wanted to take the rear tires to the opposite front side? Or was this just trouble shooting, not rotation? The second, I am feeling a wobble sometimes in my steering. Most noticeable when I get above 40mph. And I have hit some curbs. I guess this isn't a question as much as me saying I probably ought to rotate the tires and see what happens...

Can you do a video showing us if it's better to change the boots or to change a whole wrecking pinion assembly. I have a Nissan titan 2008 I'm not sure what I should do.. I get a lot of mix information...

I rotated my tires and the vibration at 40mph, is now down to a steering wheel wobble.

Will a bad cv axle joint cause the car and steering wheel to shake at 55 mph and up?

I’ll try my best to explain my issue. I have an 05 Tahoe that I believe needs an alignment since I have to hold my steering wheel at 10 or 2 depending on what lane I’m in. If I center my steering wheel I vier off the road pretty fast. Anyway I have an error come up on the dash 3 days ago. Said Service Stability control. The message disappeared the next day. On day 3 my suv now has a pretty substantial sway from left to right like a boat rocking but only when coasting or driving under 10mph max. After I get over 10-15 there’s no wobble but there is vibrating in pretty much everything. Any ideas what it could be?

Hey Scotty. I have a steering vibration that starts around 70mph. I also notice my windshield mounted phone vibrates as well. Had alignment checked and it's within spec. Has new balanced Michelin Premiere A/S tires. Suspension seems nice and tight. I do however hear what sounds like a worn bearing or bad fluid coupling in rear while driving. Sounds like a jet engine. 2006 Toyota Matrix 4WD w/ 75k miles.

scotty can you make a video explaining how to tell and put spark plug wires in the correct cylinder? I changed my spark plug wires and I think I might have crossed them but how could I tell which ones are crossed? My car has been idling before the spark plug wire change so determining crossed wires by the idle: I don't think will be of good use.

I have that same issue on my front passenger side wheel. I took it to lesschwab tire and they replace the wheel bearing, but the issue is still there. I had them do a full wheel balance on all 4 tires and including rotation. When the mechanic guy there at lesschwab put it up on the lift. He show me what was causing the wobble problem by shaking the tire for play and the wheel wobbles really bad on the front passenger side. I took the car back and they put in a shim to see if that fix the wobble, but the problem is still there and hasn't changed. Can you please help. The wheel did have some really bad road gash mark on it.
