@@viskyranjan maybe you installed the wrong Win version. The key is either for Home, Pro or Ultimate or what W7 versions were at that time.

This was the most effective and quick fix to the problem. Other tutorials spent too much time on tweaking other options while telling the system that the setup is actually complete was the the most obvious thing to do. Great job!

how long should the 'setting up personalized settings for:' window be up for? mine has been up for a while and doesn't seem to be doing too much.

how about, when you finish there, after restarting,it go back from the start..

Even though it didn't work as intended (got stuck setting up personalized settings for "Web Platform Customizations"), in practice this tutorial was very useful, I just had to force restart after a while and do the same thing at the end. I am very grateful for your tips, thank you.

Try another version of windows 10. I had the same problem with windows 10 pro but it worked normally for windows 10 home version and I installed it!

Man 2021, with a laptop really bad I had to downgrade to windows 7 but it always gave me boot errors and then that staying stuck on the complete install... Thx mate for the tutorial

This worked i followed the steps but this time created no password once in i installed windows 10 using the microsoft media creation tool

I needed install Vista-64 cause for my nephew Son I wanted to give him some of old games to be installed on VISTA-64 machine.....Due to my one is 6th gen at the 3\2 progress it get stuck (Vista won't install due to Hardware incompatibility but by employing this I got it through......thank you so very much

if you havent fixed it follow these steps restart by hand when the error comes up hit instantly shift+f10 it comes cmd in cmd type regedit follow the instruction as in video.

What is the average time for "completing installation" section to complete ? I mean how do we know either we stuck on that section or actually it's running?

If you have a hard disk light maybe you can actually see if there is any activity. I am installing on an AMD Athlon XP, very trash-y PC for today's requirements. It has an HDD light and maybe if it stops blinking or staying on and, say 10 minutes after it stops, there is nothing happening, you can do it. Just my guess, not really into editing the registry.

Yes, a hdd light is gold, but sadly most modern laptops don't have one anymore. We need to check in task manager and see if the hdd is busy or not.

What will i do next in the command prompt if it shows X:\Sources>

could it be that setup gets stuck due to changes of the boot sequence? eg. if on has switched to USB instead of the hard-drive -boot, the laptop would not be able to restart and actualize the updates/fresh install. - anybody: do tell if what I say makes any sense xD --ty

Since you have a Command prompt already open, you might succed to get a reboot (avoiding the power button) , with the command [shutdown /r /f ] , or [shutdown /r /f /t 5]

if nothing happens when you press shift+f10 try pressing Fn+Shift+F10 hope it helps, good luck

That actually means your laptop prioritises other functions on the keys (like brightness up and down) instead of the F keys. Glad you figured it out.
