Nevermind, the internet was connected but it didn't feel like it was, and when I restarted, it's disconnected again

i have a question what was the problem and the things we did will it compromised ours safety

Thank you very much for your help!! My IP address was blank and after switching to "Obtain an IP address automatically", my ethernet connection returned. I"m not very tech savvy but this helped me to not throw my PC out the window. lol
