Thanks, my old earbuds were unraveling, soon to break. Replacements were inferior in every way. So I can now fix the issue. Fortunately I have a heatgun wrap kit. Just need to buy the glue.

But this is not the best way I think. I have done the same, but ear end is highly stiff (Heat shrink is so rigid after heating) and disturbing. Any other rubber or silicon tube available?

Best way is to change the whole wire and apply kevlar protection over it or synthetic pipes like IV pipes.

What if the wires don’t connect and there’s no extra length on the plug?

exactly u w a a .... any size would work because it has to be cutted off first so mm doesn't matter 2:1 shrinking matters
