You are the first person to sum this up perfectly and as I understand. I got lazy and ordered some crappy shifter for the S10 and while not being impressed I will probably install it anyhow when swapping units. Thanks for explaining one of the major faults in the Chevy t5

Awesome info!!! I think you might have solved my problem, when I first got the T5 for my swap I noticed it was stuck in a gear, I disassembled it, couldn’t find anything wrong then put it back together and it shifted. I’ve only put about 20 miles on the car since I built it and last Sunday it got stuck in 3rd then wouldn’t go into 4th at all unless I forced it. When it did go into 4th it would get stuck and I’d have to knock it out. Im pulling the transmission tonight and this will be the first thing I check now!

Funny stuff. "All 3 of you guys still using these". LOL. That's me. Wanted to see a way to move the shift rail, (thru the gears)"W/O" the shifter installed. Not sure if it's possible. Thanx for th video.

Great Video! My jeeps T5 pops out of reverse violently even if i am carefull on the clutch/gas White reversing WhatsApp could be the problem?

Where to get parts? I need the needle bearings & circle clips that hold the 5 th gear in place. Mine kicked out and pushed the clip out of the Grove..

Could this cause my 95 Chevy 4x4 to not work in 2bd 4th and reverse but does work in the top gears 1st 3rd and 5th it slots into 2nd 4th and reverse but let out on clutch it's like it's. In neutral

This was perfect! I picked up a "T-5" shifter at a swap meet not realizing it was for a Ford T-5 and not a GM. I was curious if it was possible to modify the shifter to still make it work. Any update on this, have you had any issues with it ?

I was at the drift track in my mustang, dropping from 3rd to 2nd. It grinded then popped out. Now I don’t have 1st but all other gears are smooth. Any ideas??

Do you know why the reverse gear pops out?

Maybe you can pinpoint what’s wrong with my t5, I’m hearing a loud clunking the faster I go and it only does it when the drivetrain is moving and I also feel a hard thumping under my feet it gets worse the faster I go

How often was your tranny sticking? I have a similar issue and I'm about to have the tranny out tomorrow to do the clutch. Mine has stuck on me maybe three or four times in the last 5 months. Not sure if it's because of my clutch not disengaging properly or if it is possible it's this part. I also get a bit of grinding in second and fourth on quick shifts. And first hates me unless I shift it in really slow and really doesn't like going into first while rolling. Clutch disengagement or synchros? Any ideas are much appreciated!

They generally don’t go into first when rolling but if it doesn’t go in with the clutch disengagement as with mine haha well looks like replacement of the hydraulic system just wasn’t enough 😆

That's my fear, I've accidentally dropped to 2nd from the top of 3rd on I-4 on my Si, can be pretty scary even on a 2019 lol

The "money shift" doesn't discriminate. It can happen to even the best drivers.

I have the same issue with my T5 I just had rebuilt, the first test drive it stuck in 4th, little scary but finally able to get it unstuck. What is the upgraded piece and do you know where I can find one. Thanks!

If you order one for a later T5 like from a 2001 Mustang V6 it will be the updated part.

I believe it's called a shift rail selector. To the best of my knowledge all T5s use the same part with the exception of the later updated one. It should interchange.

@@dickysgarage7120 Just checking if you could ask your friend Mike if he still has that upgraded part T5 part. I would like to buy it off him if available. Still having issues with the T5 now getting stuck in 3rd and 4th
