    I can't express my thankfulness for you. This was EXACTLY what I needed. I don't know what a repair call or what a new dryer costs, but this was $24 for a heating element and roughly 1.5 hours. Not all heroes wear capes - and you sir...are just that!

    $24 dollars? Where the heck did you find a heating element for DV42H5200EP/A3 for that price?

    @@soccerguy2433 Amazon. The complete unit with the housing and thermostats was $54, I think, but I got that one to save some time breaking it all apart. It came with some spare t-stats, too, which I hopefully won't need, lol, but are nice to have in case.

    Great video. I was able to change the heating element with very few issues. Would probably buy the entire assembly if I had to do it again, as it was a bit of a challenge to get everything lined up, but great directions on the repair. Thanks!

    Hey, why would you recommend to replace the whole assembly?

  • @EarthaNell

    @EarthaNell

    @Kevin, I would buy the entire assembly next time because the sensors/thermistor could be damaged. Although you can use a multimeter to check their ohms, I’d buy the whole assembly. One of the wires had burned, also, so I had to replace that too. I agree Chad. I noticed that the new metal sheet holding the elements was slightly thicker than the original, making it difficult to align the screws.

    Thanks man, ordered the kit and it took me about 90 minutes to do this. A bunch of that time was cleaning the inside of the dryer and cleaning and lubricating the drum wheels. I found flexing the bottom section of the heater tube in helped with the line up at the end. I installed the top piece and stuck my hand inside after getting one screw in, shifted the element around, then did the rest one by one. No issues at all, dryer works perfectly again. Appreciate the video.

    Thanks for the video! It was helpful to know how to take the whole dryer apart, and it was useful to go back through your video to remember the correct way to route the belt. I went with the element replacement route, and while I had everything apart, replaced the very squeaky tensioner pulley.

    Thanks for the guidance! I just finished to successfully replace the heating element on my dryer and couldn't have done it without your help. I even had the same issue with the top bar thing 😄😄. My major struggle was the band, but I tilted back a bit the dryer so I was standing instead of kneeling and it worked better for me.

    Thanks for the video! FYI you can save a ton of time because the heating element assembly slides out from underneath the drum. Just remove the three Phillips screws that hold the assembly mount from the front after removing the dryer front panel. Three assembly mount and the whole assembly slide right out through the front. No need to remove the drum for access.

    This is outstanding! I have the exact same model dryer, this repair was exactly as you described. Even the issue with no heat was exactly as you showed where the heating coil was broken. Excellent video!! My dryer is now heating properly without having to pay someone to come out to fix it and I was able to clear out any fire hazards in the dryer housing while doing the repair.

    Great video!! The model I have is slightly different, with some differences with mounting screws and such (like having the same engine for a different vehicle model, mounting brackets and such may be different), but you did such a great job explaining it that I just did this job on my own dryer. Took me a little while, as I wanted to make sure I was putting all the screws back into the correct places, and the belt was a little difficult to get back on, but once I figured it out it went right on. Fired it up, and I had heat and the drum spun. Thank you!!

    This video was a huge help in seeing how to take it apart! I replaced the heating element, put it all back together, drum turned easily by hand but when I ran it, it made a horrible rubbing noise. Took it all back apart and found that I had dislodged a spring clip that holds the motor down (movement at one end pf the motor allowed the blower fan cage to rub on its housing). Bent some tension back into that clup with pliers, reassembled everything and it is running just fine!

    Hey there, I had this similar dryer Samsung DV42H5200EW/A3 and I took it apart just now to see if the heating coil itself was broke and it was NOT BROKEN. I then use my voltmeter and check all three of the sensors on it. When I do that they all show voltage. Are they all supposed to read "ZERO" if its a good sensor and if it shows some sort of voltage does it mean that its bad? I did check the dryer vent and that looks good, What do you think I should do? I was not able to test with the leads off since I had not seen your video and I had put it back together
