I have same left top side hits top of door frame. However the bigger gap is on the top hinge rather the the lower hinge. Can't get my head around it because it I reduce the gap of the top hinge it will raise the left of the door up more????

Sounds like you have more of an issue of a sagging door. I would wager your door jamb is might have dropped on the handle side thereby causing the door header to hit? Put a level on the door jamb header to see. I had a similar issue once upon a time & you might be able to find those videos on my channel if you go to my main KZread channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to doors & see if the video series is in there. My best friend's son ran the video camera for me & it was a house that was on a steep hill & I had to do something different to fix it. See if you can find those videos as that might assist you with your issue...you can send me more messages here after you check on that & check the level on the door jamb header....

Just found your channel and subscribed. Looked and looked for information on how to correct this problem, so glad you posted this. All I could ever find was the sagging door, not the door rubbing at the top. Also, I have a problem with Exterior metal door that stands proud up on that corner. I have tried everything I could find and it still stands just a bit proud but closes good enough. Any suggestions?

Thanks for subscribing! Lots of times if your door is rubbing toward the top edge of the actual door jamb rather than the top of the door header then your door could actually be sagging unlike this particular door. I have more door sagging videos to learn more....just go to my main KZread channel page then click on playlists & scroll down to doors & they will be in there. If you can't find exactly what you are looking for then please send me another message. Your question could be answered by watching those videos. Of course all doors are not created equal when I come across a door that is hitting a door jamb. It could be loose screws in the door hinge or hinges or the door could be sagging because the door jamb has settled over the years or the door was never really installed properly from the start or the door hinges & hinge pins are so worn that they create slop thus tilting the door to make it hit so unfortunately without seeing a picture of your exact door issue I could not say. Here's another idea for you....a few years ago I created a group page called DIY Home Improvement Made Easy & you could join that then take a few pics of your door then post with your question...as a thought. It's easy to join if you decide to do that as of course you are welcome! I hope you also get a chance to check out my new Roku Cannel as it took me many months gathering up all the video content to then make my channel live. I have a door that hits on the top latch side on the frame. There is a big gap on the top of the hinge side and top of that side on the frame. I have hardly any room on the latch side all the way down and hinge side on the bottom. It’s an exterior metal door with metal frame. I can’t use longer screws like a wood frame on the hinge side, because the metal frame is hallow. If can get the top corner of the hinge side to move up and towards the frame it might fix my issue. How do you suggest I fix that? I’ve tried bending knuckles on all three hinges, shimming, replacing the top hinge and all the screws are tight on the hinges and door. None have worked so far. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you bent the knuckles on the hinges it sounds like you should only be bending the top hinge knuckles to then bring the door closer to the door jamb. Since this door is an exterior door, look at the hinges again & see if those hinges are the kind that can be adjusted by using an allen wrench...? I had some hinges like that which I could adjust & make the door do what I wanted but then again if your hinges aren't that kind then you will need to do something else. I have lots of other door videos for sagging doors/etc.. If you want to spend more time you can go to my main KZread channel page & click on playlists then scroll down to doors & go through those videos to see if there is something there that may assist you further with your issue. Here's something else you can do.....I have a facebook group I created called DIY Home Improvement Made Easy where you could join then you can post a few pics of your door & hinges where I could then see your issue further & I could assist you further that way. @@videojoeshows Thank you for your prompt reply! I do have hinges that bend and a knuckle bender. I’ve tried that and even purchased some new hinges with a removable pin. I’ll look at your other videos and see. I just joined your Facebook group as well. If I can’t find anything I’ll post the pictures of the door on the Facebook group. Thank you again.
