For those of you who may want to replace your own water pump - Be SURE to do something to make sure the bolts go back in the same holes they came out of .. they might use 2 or 3 (sometimes more) bolts of the same size, but different lengths. Inserting a bolt that is just 1/4 inch longer into a hole that is too short can do major damage

For those watching, don't forget to burp air after replacing the pump. Although that step may be boring and obvious to those who know, the audience includes people who have never done this before. An overheat after failure to burp air can be a critical error of inexperience.

I love your channel. I've become so good at self maintaining my vehicles because of you. People say stuff like this takes away from mechanics but mechanics weren't getting my business anyway cause I simply can't afford to go in. So it was just driving with dangerously broken crap till it simply couldn't go anymore or try to fix myself. And I was doing alright on my own but your channel has helped SO MUCH. I can now drive my car with confidence that I'm not gonna break down in the middle of no where and I've watched enough of these to where I've built a useable on the side of the road kit in my trunk IN CASE I DO BREAK DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE I can jump out and at least make the car limp to somewhere safe worthy! Thank youuuu!!! Your the dad I never had but always wanted!!

I had hoped to learn how to find a rattle on the interior of a car, but this is an excellent explanation on how to determine rattles on the engine. Fortunately, on both GM and Japanese imports this rarely happens (with the engine) as usually the water pump fails before any rattling occurs (then again, most Japanese brands require you to replace your water pump at 105,000 miles or seven years.

Playing hockey at 63+ is pretty darn good. I use to play roller hockey, and follow the islanders win 4 straight stanley cups. Nice video. I once had to have something similar changed, as I was driving back from nyc to brooklyn and prayed I would make it. It was a pulley too. It was on my 88' olds ciera back in like 2002 or so. Someone in the city thought maybe I was low on some fluid or so but not the case. Finding noises or leaks of any kind can sometimes be hard. Scotty if you could do a video on finding water leaks that would be perfect. I'll share my story then.

This works in most cases, but I worked on an ambulance with a roaring diesel vacuum pump and ,without a load on it, it sounded just like a new one. I had to use a mechanic's stethoscope right behind the pulley with it running to pinpoint the noise. A screwdriver didn't amplify the noise enough to overpower the chattering of the diesel engine. Good advice, but not a guaranteed solution. And it also won't work on noisy belt tensioners as they vibrate enough to make a chattering noise through the screwdriver or stethoscope regardless of if they are good or not. But for 95+% of cases, this will work fine.
