I would like to recommend that we should also put the thermal paste again because that is the main reason for overheating if the thermal paste if dried i should clean the old thermal paste and apply new

I never knew I could fix a console until today

Simple fix clean dust and remove heat shield learned from being a mechanic. You don't even have to put it back together tbh I left mine apart. It runs so cool

You can take the bottom apart and clean it but I advise to put the bottom together if you leave the top case off. And take all the heat shields out leave them out. And put yours screws where your fan holds down back in it so it dosent rattle. Leave all other screws out

Hi guys. Writing this comment to ask about ps case heating. Ps case is hot but ps is working really quiet. Recently buyed used ps4 pro and it been cleaned. Fan speed depends on system temperature i know. But i want just to get sure about it. Is it okay to ps4 case to be hot but quiet? There's no red light of controller or some messages from ps4 like "ps4 overheating please turn it off to cool it down" Edit: PS4 pro working same quiet at pretty old games and pretty new like death stranding.

This methods works in 2024.. I just fixed my ps4 and there was a whole bunch of dust inside . I even used a toothpaste in place of thermal paste.. I can play now Without the ps4 is too hot issue

when im playing star wars battlefront 2 online its get fast overheated but other games like gta5 online slow overheat

WD40 is not a lubricant. That fan is still dirty.

Mine just started over heating for no reason. So mad. I have pink diamond curry with 33 HOF badges on 2k23 that I can't use now. Can't even run the console long enough to download my games to my external hard drive

Try running a small floor fan right on the console. Mine started heating up and shutting off. I just checked today....fan stopped working. I now run a floor fan right on the console and it stays cool and does not shut off.

Made it worse, it used to overheat after a while of playing but after cleaning and following all the steps when i launch a game the fan starts spinning fast and then turns off without a overheating message, please help, and 3 small screws were left and my dumbass lost them, again, please help

Rest of repair is good, but two Nooos! WD40 is *not* a lubricant, this turns into thick waxy petroleum, this will be warranty return issue, I use normal medium oil even engine oil is perfect, instead, I drill using fine sharp drill into the bearing from back and inject oil via blunt needle. this restores lifetime of these fans if needed if they are stiff or noisy. Second, the old paste has to cleaned off completely, it is hard and bubbled, even worse on all microsoft consoles. Then strip of 600 grit sandpaper wrapped round thick, small flat square of metal sand the heatsink's surface to make this more flatter and more smoother, yet still matte, clean again. Then I use mid end thermal paste like Noctua NT-H2 or Arctic Silver 5 thin covered on APU die surface completely, then reassemble. All consoles get this procedures regardless even just for hard drive replacement to prevent warranty bounce and extend the lifetime of these consoles even Slims too. I had no overheating issues afterwards, the ones that came back had other issues is rare in 4 years of as tech repair. Cheers,

Overheating does not mean the covers or body of the PS4, but the APU processors are overheating.

I only get this problem only when I play call of duty it gets over heated and switches it's self off but when i play other games like fifa or watch Netflix on it my ps4 is fine it's just only when I play call of duty i get this problem and it's really annoying as I'm in the middle of completing a level then this happens 🤦🏻🤷‍♂️🤣

Apply a good thermal paste and some pressure at the backside of the motherboard (you can watch ps3 overheat video on my channel ),sure be no more overheat problem.

Refresh the thermal paste and check for proper fitting. The APU must be well connected with the heat sync plate.
