You have just saved me a massive hassle! I was about to remove the stand to replace the whole mechanism as I didn't know you could just undo the piston with a wrench. So glad I stumbled on this video. You now have a new subscriber!!

Thanks for the video, worked perfectly. These popup wastes look nice but they fail constantly, I'm going to replace it with a standard plug next time.

Thank you so much. I was going to get the plumber out, so you’ve saved me £70. So easy to unscrew the plug when it was stuck, IF you use rubber gloves. And replacing the piston, so easy!!

HI there, did you ever get round to making a video showing how to change the whole pop up waste please? The piston has corroded in mine, i think from ussing drain unblocker fluid! So I don't have the piston anymore, just a hole ☹. Thanks for the making this channel though, lots of great tips, and loads of things I fix round the gouse now 👍

In the UK, we call that a click clack waste, a pop up waste being the mixers that have a rod at the back of the tap ;)

Hey Bill, I was wondering if you know how to paint a concrete ceiling in a condo building. Long story short, I had some black mold growing on the ceiling around the windows of my unit. I cleaned the mold using a mold remover and then to remove the stain scrubbed the ceiling and have exposed the concrete a little bit. I now want to paint it. Can I directly paint the exposed concrete or do I need to first put some "mud" on the ceiling and then paint. Thanks.

Hi, depends on the texture/finish on the concrete. Generally concrete paint is self priming so adhesion shouldn’t be an issue. If you have removed some of the finished material from the concrete you may have to patch it. What product you use would depend on the existing finish you have.

Lol, perfect timing. Could be many reasons for it not working. Anything from chemicals down the drain to general wear and tear. The good news is that it’s cheap and easy to resolve 👍👍👍

Hi Bill, I have accidentally corroded the pop up drain and the circular chrome ring around. Is the circular flat chrome disc changeable as well? Basically the water mixed to bleach did not go away and stayed five days. (I forgot to drain the water amd bleach).

What if I can’t turn it to the left and it’s gone too far down/ stuck too hard? I’ve tried plunger and it won’t work.

i was able to undo the stuck but i cant remove it... no matter how much i twist... pls advise

Mine pops up and down but noticed when it's down and filling up the water slowly runs away.

Any tips, mine will not move even with the rubber gloves. 🥴😭

great, but useless if you can't actually unscrew the top off.

These things get on my nerves; they’re always full of crud, and just plain nasty. I just take the whole apparatus out, and use a simple plug and chain.

Pop up waste. Oh didn’t know waste went down the bathroom sink. I’d figure anything that’s titled waste and uses a sink would be in the kitchen. Do you usually drain waste down the bathroom sink. That’s England. Any country that has the word Gland in it. Makes you question.

Worst piece of crap invented with all lime in uk water they jam up i just removed top bought push in type from screw fix works evertime won't fail like these pieces of rubbish ,and had few gave up on pop ups useless
