How To fix Peeling Paint On A Car Cheap And Easy
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
If you have peeling paint spots on your car or truck, and you want to keep them from rusting, this video shows you how to quickly paint over them for less than $10. I show you the cheap and easy way to paint over peeling paint spots on your car or truck. This doesn’t look great, but it looks good enough if you have an old car. The most important thing you need to do if you were going to paint over the peeling paint spots or chipped paint on your car is buy the exact same color paint as your car. If you match the paint color really well, then even if you do a sloppy job, the car will look good. This is easy paint repair that is much better than doing nothing. It doesn’t look as good as a professional paint job, but it will keep your car or truck from rusting until you can get it painted the right way.
Here is where to buy the paint I used in the video:

Spray pattern should stop and restart at the edges. If you keep the button pushed continuously while you move back and forth then you build up too much paint during the transitions. And it is recommended to apply light even coats, let dry, then do again. You put way too much paint on the first coat.

@@hoohoohoblin Yes, I tried this fix with rattle cans on an old (no resale value) car a few years ago and the result looked equally as bad, disappointing and ugly. It also peeled off a bit with a high pressure car wash. In retrospect, I've seen better looking 50 feet results using rubberised slightly textured paint using a paintbrush/roller, after fixing rust spots with rust killer and using a textured filler/primer over the entire car.
U could paint this whole truck with a similar rustoleum blue, a clear coat and buff it out to look pro for like $100 in an afternoon if you just prep it right by sanding all the old paint and properly priming it. It would be an easy project for a father and son on a nice spring day during a pandemic.. as long as you've got masks!
@BilgemasterBill

Yup. Rust-Oleum really is the brand for a semi-decent homemade rattle-can paint job. The better you prep the better it'll look. To hike that up a notch, a little wet-sanding with some 1200 or 1500 grit between coats, then wait a month or so, bring out the polishing compound and then wax, and you can make it look pretty fantastic for something you did in the driveway.

This goes against everything I've watched so far: wash your car properly, fine spray layers, even the paint and unpainted surfaces to prevent peeling, let it dry before the next layer, sand again and add a clear coat layer.

It’s still on there. I should’ve just sprayed the whole hood, because the part I touched up is a lot shinier than the rest of it, but at least it’s preventing rust.

hoohoohoblin - apply build up primer to that spot that’ll build it up to the level of the surrounding paint. It may take multiple coats and you may have to wet sand. Then spray paint that spot only. 1 coat every 10 minutes at a time. Once you get the color down let it dry, then gently scuff the whole hood and apply clear coat to the whole thing.
Best way to do it if you want your truck to look like a pos.

My dude, have you never used spray paint before? You need to put light coats
I thought this was a joke video at first. It's amazing how out of touch this guy is. lol
I seen cars painted with shine spots and other not so brite. Nevertheless it's a style but if u want it to be the same don't paint too much on the car. Do like one coat complete let it dry see how it matches to the rest of the car. Additionally you did like 3 or 5 coats on your chip paint
The reason its so shinny is you basicly dropped all the paint on the bonnet like a lake and then it dry. You need to lay light layers of paint and allow to dry! Then you will get more of a matt finish geeez!
That definitely looks better than it was.......
I mean it ain't great, but it works!

That’s literally called “dogs balls-painting”
Remove the hood and sand the whole surface and then paint the whole hood int he garage or undercover somewhere, just takes a couple more hours and a few extra cans of paint... the end result will be a new hood.
Damn you kick that hood's ass
LMFAO! This guy never heard of "paint layers"? Geez man, give it a few light layers and let go of the can top every now-and-then :D
How do I find the right white??
@hoohoohoblin
3 жыл бұрын
Most auto parts stores that sell touch up paint have a book or a computer that you can look up the colors for the year of car you drive in. There’s probably only one version of white for your car for that particular year, so you just look up the year, and then get the paint that is white that matches.
Paint it on thick to stick 😂😂😂
Don't think it too much,, its just paint...🙂👍
Should've skipped the blanket, the overspray would make it so you dont have to stare at what you've done to your hood.
uhmmmm.... Yeh.... not your best tutorial :) I think you should sand whole hood. and just reclear.... maybe touch up color a bit... or.... junkyard hood!

This is definitely sloppy and ugly. I just wanted to show what it looks like to throw a little paint on to keep it from rusting. Those paint peeling spots keep getting bigger, and the one on the roof keeps getting rustier, and I think it’s better for me to slow down the rust with some paint than to procrastinate for another couple years until it turns into a hole in the roof.

'let it ry and deal with it later'' jesus HAHAHAHHAHA
Wow that looks like shit why even make a video of your results are going to be like that amazing
What about sanding, this unfortunately wasn't that helpful and it's the only one I could find that deals with exactly what got, also its not good to do a continuous spray
This video is for me. How to do it cheap not right.
Oof, I'm guessing this is a work truck. But if you paint, please feather the edges with 120 - 300 grit sand paper, then if you have bare metal, get some etching primer and put a film of that on first. Let dry, then add some sealant primer or sandable/filler primer. Sand it down with 600 grit with light to medium light pressure. Stop sanding once you see the etching primer show through. Clean everything up nice and clean with denatured alcohol/rubbing alcohol/wax or grease remover and a tack cloth (they're dirt cheap). Then just spray two light coats and one medium coat of paint. 10 minutes between coats. Then add another medium coat if you're still seeing primer. Let dry 10 minutes. Then get some 2K Clear Coat, and do two dry coats, then one or two wet coats. Body work and paint is an art form and a true test of patience! I'm not going to dislike because a ton of people just stare at the work they have to do then run away to mommy.

Thanks. You are 100% right about all that. I just wanted to show what it looks like if you do the absolute minimum. A lot of people postpone this stuff because they want to do it right, and then they end up with a truck full of rusty holes.

When you feather the edges how do you prevent more paint falling off, or should you go way over the area of the flake so primer and then feather it to rest of paint ?

@@A4ANT When you're sanding the primer, it should not be flaking. The only time it will flake is if you put too much primer on, or the surface was not clean and proper adhesion did not take place between the surface and the primer.
