Just bought a used Focus earlier this week, dried the boot as it was soaked. I check the internet for research and you are the first place I looked. It sure looks like you have the answer Thank you very, very much for sharing your research. :-)

What worked for me - before you cover your car in silicone and basically make a mess of it do this first, this video and others DID NOT WORK FOR ME - answer is in the ROOF PLASTIC STRIPS or was for me at least , my leak was in right hand side of bootwell so i removed right hand strip, careful not to break it but it should remove with some pressure - now re silicone the whole gutter/space where strip has been removed ( you may notice tiny cracks damp in space )- leave it 10 mins then replace strip. This is a confirmed fix - my boot hasnt been wet since. Your welcome.

For those of you who tried this and are still having problems this is where mine was leaking. Lift the end of the plastic trim on the roof and there's a seam underneath it.(Go to 5.01 in this video and you'll see the roof trim I'm talking about. Mine had a bit of green algae on the point it was leaking. A blob of silicone on the seam did the trick for mine after much head scratching and unnecessary silicone elsewhere.

I can confirm that this works a treat I had same problem in my mk2 focus 2007 and now bone dry many thanks for the video.

Hi and thanks for the videos. I pulled up the carpet in my Focus boot a couple of days ago and was surprised to find the spare wheel submerged in water. The underside of the carpet was also mouldy! The jack and wheel brace were begining to rust as was spare wheel. I dried out the well and drilled a small drain hole in the plastic grommet so it will never fill up again. I will try your sealing advice as soon as it stops raining for long enough, hopefully it be cure the problem. Cheers!

Amazing work mate I have the same problem I sealed the lights in the same way you have and thought that was it .when it rained next I had water so I didn't know where it was coming in..well ive whatched your video and ide like to say thanks im now going to try what you did I will let u know if it works..Thanks again... Brilliant! I am having a similar problem in my focus estate, I will try this method and hopefully it will work. Today I found my spare wheel in 3 inches of water and starting to rust! I have already started sealing some areas but I will do more around the hinges now I have seen this video.

Going to give this a try , all but ripped out the plastic fittings to locate this leak. Found it coming down by the small back window between inner and outer skin then tracking to its lowest point.

I had water water coming in originally on the right-hand corner and had to remove both the platic rear bumper and the metal one underneath which revealed a tiny hole where the machine thread was welded to the body, I siliconed this and from then on dry as a bone....... however just recently, about 4years after original repair the left side is now leaking from a different location and as yet I have not found the source. Good luck.

i have ford focus 1.6 lx same problem .left side .not sure about where the light is , water runs down under light fitting where the screws are to hold light not sure if water is getting in through there does any body know .
