Don't spend $30 for contact cleaner any hardware store will have this for $5ish great tip though I got some a week or 2 ago to fix my racing wheel pedals. Great to know it's good for that stuff too

Pretty grateful I read your comment just now. I was literally on the verge of buying some BW-100 from Amazon just now until I read your comment. This electronic cleaner costs about $17 on Amazon now but if I can grab it for cheaper at maybe Home Depot, Lowes, or a local hardware shop, I'll do that. Thanks again. I'll try Home Depot tomorrow.

You can go to your local Home Depot or other hardware store and pick up WD40 contact cleaner for around $6-7. It does the same thing and it's a lot cheaper than the BW100. Also, for drift on Xbox controller, contact cleaner works -- sometimes. Make sure you open the green tabs on the thumbsticks and spray the cleaner in there. You can GENTLY pry them open. If you pry too hard, you will break them. You do need a Torx Bit to unscrew the xbox controller. I believe its the T7 bit (maybe T6 or T8). If the contact beneath the thumbstick is worn out, cleaner won't help. At that point if you don't like drift, it's time for a new controller.

Like you said the panels are sturdy, when I need to fix my daughter's Xbox controller I just use a screw driver down into the open trigger slots next to the triggers and pry outward, they pop right out way easier than working your way all the way around, saw on a KZread video one day and it's worked flawlessly several times now, needed a specific star shaped screw driver to get further, usually just use the one we have at my work when I need replace the analog stick that my daughter keeps "accidentally" pulling out when she gets mad at Roblox

This won't always work but it's something to try because usually there are micro variations in the contact traces for the analog control that can wear over time and it all depends on the quality of it done in the manufacturing process. Take apart your controllers and use a magnifying glass and you can see the difference between the traces. I have purchased several controllers over the years and some will last long with no issues while others won't. One of my Dual Sense controllers I had problems just 2 weeks after purchase with stick drift while I have a couple more with no issues over a year now. You can purchase the analog control modules online for fairly cheap and if you are good at soldering they can be replaced fairly easily. Anyone who regularly watches this channel has probably heard of "panel lottery" well with analog controllers it's "analog lottery". 😄

Dirt/dust is not the cause. It’s wear and tear and the luck of the draw. Just like when you pick up a brand new TV, you hope to get a clean panel/or a good panel. A defective potentiometer is most likely to be defective or just worn down from use. The compressed air is just placebo.
