Wow, it worked, steps 1 and 2! THANK YOU! I was skeptical but a true believer now. Have been racking brain for weeks trying to update my iphone 8 from ios 13 something and have now successfully updated to 14.4. Have spent hours on iTunes and Apple support sites, boards, web links, everywhere. Did all the steps Apple suggested. Amazed that Apple does not offer the simple 2 step fix you so graciously offered, but that would just be too easy and simple for the giant behemoth. A giant thumbs up and new subscriber.
