    This did the trick for me! Thank you!!!! I saw, after taking the laptop apart that the power port had been pushed inside the laptop, so the center pin couldn't make contact. I loosened the screw holding the port, put it where it is supposed to be, then tightened it down as best I could. Hope it holds for a while, but at least now the battery is finally charging!

    I posted 11 months ago on here that this video helped me with another Dell computer. Yesterday I completed this repair on my sister's computer that's the same model as the one used in your example. Couldn't have been easier. Part was 6 bucks on Amazon and delivered overnight. I emphasized to my sister that how one plugs in and unplugs the computer goes a long way towards this part lasting. Again, many thanks for this video! And yes, I subscribed 🙂

    This addresses one cause but it remains a problem that Dell laptops will randomly not recognize chargers when there is nothing wrong with the charger or the port. Currently have a six month old Dell Precision 5550 with three USB-C ports and it will randomly not recognize any OEM 130W charger plugged into the port - even when it has been working fine, powered down, and restarted the next day with no changes, but then will not recognize the charger. Several reboots over a half hour, moving the charger to different ports, eventually gets it working again. Its been driving me and our IT nuts and is a chronic, ongoing issue with multiple machines in our office.

    Thank you so much for this video.. It fixed my problem. My Dell laptop wasn't charging, I searched all over for a solution. I bought a new battery, updated battery drivers but still the problem wouldn't go ..Then I watched this video, and learnt that problem was with the bent pin in the Ac charger. I Straightened it, and its now charging fine. Thanks again!

    Hey you have a great way of teaching - keep it up. My problem: ac adapter is not detectable, per the diagnostics report, so I imagine that’s a port problem? I just ordered some precision screwdrivers to see if I can release the residual power after dc’ing the battery, and if that doesn’t work I’ll try replacing the port. If that doesn’t work THEN I’ll send it into Dell and pay the ridiculous prices haha

    Been having the same issue with del xps 15 9500 i9 which has 130 watt USB charger and already purchased an expensive new charger from dell though there doesn't appear to be any damage to original, fault actually disappeared after the charger was ordered but we kept the new one thinking perhaps it was on its way out, That was a few weeks ago but yesterday problem resurfaced and neither of the chargers worked, then this morning again it works, bios reports healthy battery and recognise that charger is 130w now that its working fine. Very frustrating problem on what was a very expensive laptop thats 20 months old

Unfortunately, I am getting the same issue with the battery not charging. I replaced new battery, new AC adaptor as well and now replaced the DC jack, but still the problem is not solved. The white light turns on for a few seconds when I plug in the charger but then goes off. It says plugged in but does not charge. Any thoughts what should I do next to troubleshoot this issue. Would really appreciate your response. Thanks.

    Great video. I've had to replace my AC port 3 times in the past year now on my Dell XPS 15. It works every time I fix it for a couple months then the same problems arises again. I'm starting to wonder if the ports could be getting damaged from the hinge and opening and closing all the time. Or possibly it could be shorting out because of the metal hinge on the metal port? Sometimes my laptop gets extremely hot on the bottom side for no reason - even though the fan is on the bottom and not blocked. Any ideas what I can do?

  • @lapfix

    @lapfix

    Жыл бұрын

    For the issue being fixed everytime you replace the dc jack. There may be a use of too much force inserting the ac adapter to the dc jack. These are very easy to chip and damage. Dell is especially sensitve with chargers/dc jacks/batteries. Even a slight bend of the ac adapter will not allow some models to charge. For the laptop getting hot, leave on a flat service and probably replace the thermal paste. I show how to in other videos I have done before. Thanks for watching

    @@lapfix Thanks for the response and Ill watch your other videos. I also noticed some issues with my HDMI port which is right next to the ac adapter port on my computer. Often when connected to an external monitor the video cuts in and out. Type C port also has intermittent issues. Could the problems be related? My laptop is over 3 years old and used a lot for work. Maybe its just time for a new one.

And next time i pressed f2 and the ac adapter was unkown and the battrey health is normal what is all this about and means? And thing that i did not understand is that i've been using this charger for like a long while and it was working very well, but suddenly now stoped and to be honest i did not check those [ ( idal & unkown - info) lately ] until now, so i really can't tell if the issue because of those info or something else and oh by the way the charger that i have now still charging but i have to let it plugged in for a while and then it's start charge

    Hey . This is the exact same problem I am facing right now . Inspiron 15 , 5000 series . The battery was just replaced 6 months ago , and the old one lasted for 4 years . The problem just happend suddenly 3 days ago . Yes : the new battery is an orignal , same model as the previous one , spent a whole week looking in my city's stores to make sure I am buying the same battery , and not a copy cat. My local vendor allowed me to use the AC adapters he has for free , but it still didnt charge . I figured the problem was with the DC port , and got it changed . It still won't charge . Windows and BIOS both just say "plugged in" , but in Dell Power manager it says "plugged in , not charging" . How likely is it the problem is motherboard related ? , and If so : is there hope it can be fixed , like a component just needing to be replaced , or is it time to move on and get a whole new laptop ? . Thanks . Edit : I belived it was software related initially . Re-installed drivers , edited the power plan +Dell Power Manager etc : all that failed too .

    Bro WTF this is crazy hahah! So my laptop been acting weird for a long time. Everytime I would connect the charger it would prompt me that there might be some issues with the AC and it's not compatible but I always ignored it. The laptop works pretty fine in daily basis but sometimes there's this problem that it will get stuck in a certain battery percentage. The remedy that worked for me was to take out the battery and put it back again. Then the charging would work fine. So some days ago, there was a power cut and I decided to use the laptop till it was 1%. I charged it back when the electricity came back but as usual there was no charging so I tried to take out the battery and do the same old ritual. Nothing happened. Long story short, I tried every troubleshooting method; also updated the drivers manually that I thought would help and even did the EC reset and nothing helped. While I watched your video, I tried to adjust my charger pin a little bit and voila! it starts to charge, damn. I don't know what is the main issue here. The laptop is a second hand one and it pretty much lasts an hour without AC power. I am thinking maybe the seller was having a different adapter and maybe it's something that causes the issue or it's the battery that needs to be replaced. PS: My model is Dell Latitude E7440 Btw loved your video, keep making helpful contents like these.

    @@yuriyrazgon1398 Glad you found your Windows problem, but when troubleshooting a non charging condition the first thing they should do is take Windows out of the equation. On bootup go into the Bios and just let the computer sit there to see if it will charge the battery.

    Over 6 years ago I put my dell inspiring in a box and under the bed. Was working came next day no sound power backlight. I did it all called dell got really outrageous quotes. Just couldn't afford it. So 2023...can I buy a power cord and battery. Just to see if it powers on. I just want to watch utube no real storage. Dealers near me want 200 bucks upfront just to look. All you need is a used power adapter, you don't need the battery, main one or even the Cmos one. If you just want to watch utube, you can do that on your TV thru your cabal provider.
