In this video tutorial, we'll see how to fix bike freewheel. The pedals turn, but the bike doesn't move. This may be due to a broken freewheel. Remove the wheel from the bike. Remove the freewheel. Use the long arm to easily remove the freewheel. The freewheel loves to cook and will not uncoil. Watch this video to the end and you will learn all the nuances of bike repair and freewheel. Subscribe and like the channel. To facilitate the freewheeling, be sure to treat the cap with a special fluid. Disassemble the ratchet. Start turning the freewheel clockwise. We see rust and a lot of dirt inside. We disassemble the freewheel completely to clean it, wash it, degrease it, lubricate it and reassemble it. We use a magnet to quickly collect all the balls. We have the top row, now the bottom row. As you can see, the teeth are sealed, full of dirt. This prevents the freewheel from working properly. Clean the dirt off the freewheel. Why does the bike not move? The spring isn't working. The freewheel won't engage. Clean the inside of the freewheel. Lubricate the seats and install the spring. There should not be thick grease in these places, otherwise everything will repeat itself. Apply some liquid lubricant. This is how we serve the freewheel workshop. It is essential to clean the freewheel thoroughly before reassembly. Then apply the right lubricant. We start with a thick layer of grease where the balls fit. Service bicycle freewheel. For grease, the balls stick like glue. Balls inside the freewheel. This keeps the balls from scattering all over the shop. Do the same with the top row of balls. Lubricate the top cup. We put the balls to sleep. See how they do it in a workshop. Little trick. How to refill balls quickly and easily. Freewheel assembly. We turn the freewheel counterclockwise. Works perfectly, like new. For additional moisture protection, we lubricate the canyon. Put a ratchet on the wheel. Tighten the freewheel again. We use no special tools. Cassette is already closed, you can clearly see it on the teeth... new cassette costs 15€. It then also makes sense to clean the cone, grease and adjust the new one before remounting the cassette

Man how do you fix a sprocker that has a grinding noise when i freewheel, I just cleaned it with wd40 then put some chain lube on the seems, but it still makes grinding noise as if it is dry

Good afternoon, for such bushings there are freewheels with a thread for 1 star. Maybe the one like yours will work, but we haven't checked.
Brilliant.
After assembling the hammers, it is best to change their position. The wear on the part can cause different situations, so when you change it you will know if they open more. You should put grease inside the body, and be more generous with bearing grease. don't put it out. it is a good idea to remove a thin washer and lock the nut to remove play.

DO NOT remove those thin washers willy-nilly. They set the spacing so the ring nut can be tightened securely without binding or rubbing on the moving parts. And the ring nut must be tightened very tightly as it tends to spin loose while riding and can loose the bearing balls.

Доброго дня,можете підсказати яка трансмісія краща для велосипеда 18кил 21рама і 29 тіпа мтб, щоб проїхати мені хотя б 200 метрів то лиш з горкі на дорогах треба постійно крутити трансмісія напевно найдешевша стоїть,думаю перейти на касету,але такій апгрейд на новий велосипед виходить напевно 😅 є в мене якісь варіант? @@KINGTAPOUT_RELOADED Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, this tool is only 23 mm in diameter and not 30 mm. Im searching for a 30 mm to actually "open" the freewheel. To do so, the outermost cogs need to be removed first.
This happened once to my bike while I was cycling home and felt that "Ivgotta go" . It was a long walk home....

There are different designs of freewheels, in this one there are 36 balls at the bottom, 30 at the top, 66 in total

One tip for using a freewheel remover tool: DO NOT do as this guy, and many others do, which is use a taped offset box-end wrench inside of a pipe to remove the freewheel. Instead, get a shallow-well 1/2"-drive socket and 30"/36" breaker bar. Tasks like removing freewheels from rear hubs are no different than removing lug nuts from a car wheel by hand. Because yes, you need the torque and leverage to break the freewheel loose -- but use tools that are the right tools for the job whenever you can, in situations like these. Because breaker bars and impact sockets will not break under normal use, unless they are made from very, very poor or cheap materials. And buying a breaker bar with an impact socket set, for this kind of work, will last you a lifetime.

I have done maintenance to front and rear wheels, crank, front neck, to eliminate wash out of the grease I have always used marine grease with no issues.

It is impossible to remove the cassette without this tool. Better buy it, it is not expensive and is sold in any bike shop or can be ordered online
I haven't encountered this for 20 years now .

For daily used, even heavy duty work, i never see those freewheel broken or damage to unrepairable. This part is amazingly perfect enginered for durability.
my freewheel completely gone silent after a service. now i dont hear any click. is that a problem ? bike rides fine
