I am so thankful for this video. I broke my flash drive and I thought I had to say goodbye to all my data. I called a few IT stores and they all quoted me over $400. Well after watching this video I decided to test my luck. The broken pieces on my flash driver were similar to the ones in this video. So I tried the option of aligning the broken pins to the connector. It took a few tries, but it lit up and I was able to hold it in place and retrieve all my data. Thanks for making this so simple. I hope someone else has the same luck I had!

Oh my goodness!! I was going to cry and I don't know what else. I bent my flash drive in which I had stored all of my coursework for this unwanted class I had to take for the Florida Dept. of Education. I did everything I could to try to get this thing to work. Your video was the first one to come up, so I decided to watch it. I was able to open the plastic that encloses the components of the flash drive. I saw the pins you were talking about and, as you said, I don't have a small soldering iron. So I used my thumbnail (actual thumbnail). Good thing it was long and was able to hold those pins down enough so that I could get the one file I needed. I can get the others later on to move to another flash drive. It took only 2-3 minutes, but they were painful as I had to press down hard so that the pins stay down and I would not have to restart the whole process after three times of trying. Thank you so much. God bless you.

Thank you so very much for your time and effort in making such clear and concise video. This is one of those curve balls and and I need your help, if you don’t mind. I’m helping a friend with his program security USB. His kid knocked the USB out of his PC. The USB was bent and ultimately broken. With much difficulty I managed to open and take out the board. This board is not your “typical board” with 4 lines coming out of it. It is “U” shape with 4 points behind it. The question is how would I be able to determine the appropriate pins? You have to wire your USB 3.0 drive in 2.0 version. So for data transfer you will use only those two pins in the needle of the connector and ignore the rest. You can see at 1:23 where white and green wires should go.

There will be 5 contacts for USB 3.0 and 4 contacts for USB 2.0 connection. I recommend using USB 2.0 interface because it has less wires.

Hello Sir, thank you so much for your video!!! I have a few questions, because i did not understand some answers from you. I have a Hama USB Stick with 9 wires. Did i understand it right that i can also use only 4 wires? So the far left and right ones are black and red but where does the other go, the white and green one. I did see multiple times your video but i still do not get it. Or could you please let me know how to connect 9 wires? Thank you so much. Kind regards!
