How To Fix An Eljer Toilet
Here is an Eljer toilet that had a fluid master adjustable flapper installed in its tank. Unfortunately, Eljer toilets won't work with just any box store repair flapper. If you have Eljer toilet and the flapper wears out to make sure you replace it with an exact matching Eljer flapper. This particular toilet that I repaired was short cycling on every flush. A toilet flapper that closes too quickly can cause other problems such as clogs!

I had a flapper which seemed to fit, but had a slow leak, but it doubled my water bill from $100 to $200 per month. Thanks to your video I found a FluidMaster Universal flapper at True Value with a bigger rubber cone and seal which stopped the leak

Thanks for the info. tried a few flappers already. Now I just have to find an Eljer!
The best 'flapper' I've used is the Korkey Red unit. It has a 5 year warranty on it .vs the Black unit that only has a 1 year warranty and if you use Bleach pucks, they will disintegrate the black ones in short order, but the Red ones will hold up well. Not sure about this "Eljer specific flapper". After all, it's just a toilet flapper, the important part is the size 2" or 3" and the material quality.

had this problem with a eljer 141-0220 I shortened the chain a few links and presto it works fine now.
What kind of flapper do you use
What did you say the name of flapper was for Eljer ? If anyone knows I'd appreciate a name, thanks. Wish I had a Mansfield.

Its not recommended for homeowners to do.
I think eljer went out of business, however if anyone knows were I can get some eljer parts for my toilet in Chicago or on line please let me no coz I can't find that flapper anywhere.

Just get a universal flapper.
A proprietary flapper?
The Eljer model with the flush handle on the side is a high water bill maker. Turning it down is supposed to make the lift go up at a 90 degree angle. Stupid design. Handle gets stuck down too often, running water for hours.
Egad, what a disgusting looking toilet and bathroom. My Eljon flapper is fitted round the stack pipe, almost impossible to remove! Poorly designed.
