I had someone come and use a similarly named product and I could see all the areas patched with this product because the product dried darker than the other stuff. The only way I can think of is to do the entire driveway in this product to even out the driveway, then seal over it with another sealer?

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    3 жыл бұрын

    Good morning and great question! The gator patch will cure as a smoother surface and be slightly darker than the rest of the surface due to its darker pigment of one coat of sealer is applied. You’ll get way more consistent results if two coats of sealer are applied. Also, the key is to solved the cracked problems so that water doesn’t get in and erode the foundation causing potholes and depressions leading to expensive repairs and an unsafe surface.

  • @dereksdiatribe

    @@AsphaltKingdom So, the only way to get a uniform look without replacing all 2,000 SF of asphalt would be to use this product over the entire surface? Or is there a product that does dry the same color? It screws with my OCD when I can see the darker stripes underneath the seal coating.

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@dereksdiatribe We would never recommend applying gator patch across the whole surface. It’s designed for alligator cracked areas and that is all. You’re much better to take care of the cracked areas with this and have a slight difference in surface smoothness with light discoloration versus leaving the cracks open that would eventually come potholes that are unsafe and extremely expensive to repair and or a tremendous eyesore. The other option is to repave it but frankly the cost of doing that when you could do a small repair isn’t ideal in our opinion.

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    Жыл бұрын

    There are various methods available to get rid of ants from your driveway, and they range from natural home remedies to commercial pest control products. Here are a couple that I'd go with: Borax Bait: Mix equal parts of borax and a sweet substance like powdered sugar. Place the mixture near the ant holes. Ants are attracted to the sugar and will carry the lethal borax back to their colony. Commercial Ant Baits and Insecticides: These can be purchased from your local garden or home improvement store. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the label for safety.

Unfortunately, customers will be disappointed after when the driveway does not look uniform color wise. I understand the principle behind trying to repair alligator cracks but nowadays customers will be upset if the driveway does not have the same color results after.

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    Жыл бұрын

    The color tone will be the same once you sealcoat it. The texture will be different however because of the lack of aggregate. Homeowners who don’t repair the cracks will have the eye sore of cracks and also the pavement will be on fast track to deterioration as water will destroy the base leading to unsafe potholes and depressions that are tripping hazards and lead to liability challenges. Much better to proactively maintain and reactively repair as needed to keep it safe, prolong the life saving money and making it look better.

  • @allan6021
    @allan6021 Жыл бұрын

    Alligator cracks like you show are NOT caused simply by water intrusion or asphalt aging. There are caused by a weak base under the pavement. Asphalt is flexible, unlike concrete, but it’ll only bend so far before cracking. The only way to fix that situation is to remove the asphalt, strengthen the granular base and repave.

    @@AsphaltKingdom Your product seems to be prepared and applied like a sealant. It’s a very temporary repair at best. If the property owner does proper crack sealing as they happen then alligator cracking is much less likely (assuming a decent design and construction in the first place). Whether it’s a road, driveway or parking lot, a proper maintenance program needs to be in place to minimize cost and maximize performance.

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    This really depends on the weather conditions outside. As an example, if in the hot summer, you could seal coat a second coat within a couple hours but if it’s cool in the high 50s and overcast, they could take a day or two before you do your second coat. The real key is to have the first coat completely dry before doing your second application. That’s why it’s good to spray your first code a little bit more thin as your primer code and then do your second application as your permanent final coat.

    looks like a glorified seal coat. Just a little thicker but if you're squeegying it on the effect is the same as seal coat. probably more expensive too

    Good morning! The solids in gator patch are way higher providing the ability to seal cracks and small holes that sealer simply wouldn’t. Gator Patch is more of a mud like material with the binding agents that you find in both sealer and asphalt itself. You wouldn’t be able to repair alligator cracks with Sealcoat. You’d want gator patch for sure.

    I have not used Gator Patch, but I can tell you that I have alligator areas and even using the highest quality sealcoating did not cover them up. Sure it looked better and probably reduced water intrusion. But not a patch.

    Gator patch vs hot rubber?

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    3 жыл бұрын

    Paul Ozeruga gator patch has its place for application and so does hot rubber. If you have a dense area of cracks that look a lot like alligator skin, we recommend gator patch: Hot rubber is absolutely the beat for singular longitudinal cracks as the rubber will seal those better and definitely faster with a push melter and applicator machine - www.asphaltkingdom.com/crack-filling-equipment.html

    how long do you wait to apply the second coat of gator patch and then how long can you seal coat after that?? Thank you!

  • @AsphaltKingdom

    @AsphaltKingdom

    2 жыл бұрын

    Pablo, the wait will depend on the weather. The first thin coat of Gator Patch can dry in as little as a half hour. We recommend sealcoating after 48 hours so the Gator Patch is fully cured. Please check out the details and FAQs on www.asphaltkingdom.com/gator-patch.html 😀

    @chrisryan8863 depends on the repair but as a temporary patch solution it usually lasts a year or two but again depends on the severity of the deteriorated asphalt.
