Man I was operating my old Stihl FS45 today after it had sat up not running for over 20+ yrs now being it was my wife's dad's & it wouldn't stay running for him so he gave it to her B4 she & I met & I stored it in my old shed until the other day when I decided what the heck let's get this thing going! So I bought a new pull cord assembly, then realized that the engine had seized up so I poured a little engine oil in it & it started moving then rebuilt the carb & a new spark plug & fuel filter as well as a new fuel line wooola! It's running again .. so today took it out on a job & it was doing great until darn head fell off half way through the job! I stuck it back in & cranked it & once again it fell out so I was about to just electrical tape it together to the spring shaft & noticed it wasn't going to work like that so I left the job unfinished & came home & decided to Google & see if anyone else has had this problem & fortunately ran across your KZread vy! Appreciate it man I'll have it fixed now! A++ 👍 subscribed & following! 😁

Hey Steve, I watch you now and then, but I do watch quite a few of your videos. You my friend are very helpful even if some the content doesn't pertain to what my issues are. Now I have a Poulan Prolink PP330 string trimmer. I bought it bran new about 9 or 10 years ago. I only used it maybe 3 or 4 times That first season and it hasn't started or ran since. I check the spark plug which OK but I changed it anyway, checked and cleaned the carburetor, I even made up a fresh mix of gas, still nothing. Now I have no idea why I held onto it so long not running either. I don't know if you would no what the issue maybe or not. It's not like it really matters I've been without it this long. Thanks Steve have a great day. Happy father's day.

Steve, I had the trimmer head of my FS45 fly off in the woods while doing trail maintenance 2 yrs ago. I went to my local Stihl dealer for parts and assistance. He told me it would be cheaper to buy a new trimmer. Due to the type of work I was doing, I bought the Stihl 131R - it's a beast with a steel blade! I still have the FS45 curved shaft. After seeing your video, I'm going to get it back out and try your solution. Thanks!

Once again Steve...you put this vid out too late!!! This happened to me last year. I was going to buy the part to repair my trimmer, but I found a used one on Kijiji for less than the bearing would have been. I kept the old one for parts, but I have probably lost that bearing somewhere on my bench. Excellent Video, just a little too late is all. Thanks again!!!

Gday Steve, I have a FS-460CE. The gear head on this machine is slightly different to the smaller residential machines. I have just removed and regressed the the bearings and cleaned it all up, It’s back together now though I’m not sure if the top shaft with the circlip is pushed down to far into the gear below. I couldn’t find any reassembly specs in relation to tolerances.. A future vid on a tear down and rebuild on one of these would be awesome 👌 Great channel.. Mike Jones from West Oz

I was getting so frustrated with the new head flying off my FS45 I could have angerly bent the shaft in half. Since I've suscribed to your channel for years I took a breather and searched your videos. Found one...Perfect & Easy fix. Most importantly, you saved me a boatload of money. Thanks. P.S. Try a Negra Modelo
