First of all! Very good video! Is it a long term fix ? Is it safe to drive the car without the splash shield? It's quite annoying to have to take it apart and put it back together every time you want to "play" with the car... But I wonder if it will be bad for the drive belts when driving in the rain or the oil pans for road debris?

I’ve been driving without one for 4 years. Worst thing would be worst gas mileage but in all honesty I still get 6.7 per 100kms.

Does the starter cause your engine light to come on? I feel like i need to replace mine or do what you did i was getting slow start ups and we just had a hurricane in Houston so I didn’t drive for a week now it wont turn over…just wanna be sure i dont have a more serious issue if engine lights on

no the starter wouldnt cause a check engine. You can buy scan tools for 20 bucks on amazon to help you diagnose check engine lights

Your battery is the corrosion problem.

Corrosion around the starter connections. Could tell by banging on the starter and starting up.
