Props for wearing your socks with your flip flops. People just don’t understand the freedom a man feels making that sort of fashion statement. Thumbs up for being a freedom warrior.

Yeah that’s only about 2% of the male population can pull it off. Everyone else has to either fake it or just be too scared to even try.

Worked like a charm for my propane tankless water heater. You saved the day as well as $25-30 for a new regulator. Tech support failed to mention this tip. They said to replace the regulator.

My new grill burners had yellow flames, sometimes no pressure at all. I followed manufacturer’s recommendations (disconnect for 30+ sec) and other tips from youtube like clean burners, blow compressed air, to no avail. Then I watched your video and noticed my regulator was upside down (grill came assembled). I swapped hose ends and made the regulator in the correct position. Lo and behold, every burner now burns blue flames! Thank you for your detailed video. I was very frustrated and ready to call for warranty claim. No more black soots to clean up.

It's a good idea to check the handy work of a preassembled. . . Well anything. What they mean is they got the janitor or a 16 year old off the register to put it together. Professional assembly usually just means you paid for it and little more.
I can't believe this worked! I've been using propane for years running a forge. The only times that I had a problem was with my smoker. This fixed it! Smoking now!

What actually happens is that the cylinder valve is check locking due to the excess flow of propane from the cylinder. It is a normal action of the cylinder to not allow the excess flow of gas from the tank. When you shut off the valve and disconnect the regulator, you are resetting the valve on the cylinder. When you turn on your cylinder, always make sure the appliance is turned to the off position. Then turn the valve handle SLOWLY to the open position. This is what is happening. The gas or regulator is now freezing up. Sorry..

Thanks Jeff....so my propane tank stays unattached all of the time when not in use. The grill has been very sporadic....turned on just fine the first time, didn't the next time, did the 3rd time, and now won't. any thoughts, like maybe the regulator isn't making a good connection to the tank? Right now I'm just getting a lot of 'tik tik tik' sounds when I try to turn it on...and when I disconnect the tank from the regulator I never hear a second or 2 of gas.

Try knocking on the regulator to free up the diaphragm. That might help you out.
What if you live in a cold state like Wisconsin. Your tank is outside with regulator. What stops it from freezing up?
@outsidewithjeff

I’ve never had to deal with that but I’d recommend not trying to grill in freezing temperatures. But that’s just me.
i have a brand new camp stove, that just uses the little old 1 lb propane bottles. i cannot get the thing to light at all. the regulator is brand new, a metal arm from coleman. advice?

Interesting, I’m in Canada and tried to BBQ in close to freezing temperature but it wouldn’t light up, guessing it’s too cold for the regulator

😂, every minute 🤦🏻♂️, it should fix it until you switch your tank.
Gas tanks for grills are vapor tanks, not liquid tanks. There’s no pick up tube it’s a vapor valve, plus every newer tank has overfill protection.

It’s definitely the most likely reason as long as your grill is in otherwise good condition.
Same logic applies to regulator for a heater right?

My furnace went out and I've already got ruptured water lines. It's currently 1°F outside and my Mr. Heater 38000 is not getting ANY gas. My regulator is adjustable. I've cleaned the thermocouple. I'm really cold and don't know what to do. Any help would be grand.
