Thank you! Great video on something we can all do, but forget because of the timeframe of not doing it all the time. I wasn't aware of the red washer for the hot. Funny my hot side washer always fails....Now I know, thanks to you....

Drips don't show up on are most sensitive meters. I work for the water company. A 1000 gallons is 10 bucks. Streams may not show up on the red sensitive meter. But yeah a dripping faucet is nerve wracking. Newer stems don't have replaceable washers. So finding new stems can be difficult. Replacing the whole faucet is a pain due to lack of room.

Hi. I can't budge the stem to loosen it. I'm afraid i may strip it. Pretty sure its a Gerber stem on the utility tub. Can I hit it with some heat, not too much, to work it loose. I WD-40 and Liquid wrenched the heck out of it. No noticeable corrosion. Just real tight. Thanks for this video.

Heating may work. I have successfully done so with other stuck nuts, alternating with WD40 quenching, but I've never done it on a faucet. There my be plastic washers on some of those seals, so be careful!

@@ItsFixable Two bouts of heat and twisting with a vise grips got it off. I think the seat looks ok. I don’t want to press my luck. Lol Thank you for your help.

I tried fixing my leaky faucet by following along with your video but all procedures fell apart when I realized I didn’t have an old tin can that used to hold Christmas cookies. I went to ACE to see if they had one and they said they didn’t. Now I’m stuck. :-(

No sealant. The O rings seal the stem in it's collar, and the flat washer seals the whole collar to the faucet body.
